I remember when these playoffs began in 2012 that the Kings were a team no one wanted to play. I called their first round upset of the Canucks and everyone thought I was crazy, but I said the Kings were a team NO ONE wanted to play in 2012.
Diehard Chicago fan. Saw my team lose a lot of games growing up. Was definitely pulling for LA in this series, and even in 2014 when LA bounced us in game 7 of the WCF. They're a fun core group to watch. Maybe one day soon our teams will meet in an epic battle again

This was New Jersey's last chance at a Cup with the team they had. The Devils, I feel knew the window was closing fast and put together a group of veteran players to try and make one last gasp at a cup and they just ran into a buzzsaw named Jonathan Quick and the LA Kings.
The Kings put The Devils in the coffin after this game. I think the Devils have only made the playoffs one time since getting dominated by The Kings. I'm not a Devils fan, just pointing out things.
The 2011-12 Kings pulled off one of the greatest Cinderella runs in NHL history. They barely sneaked into the playoffs as the eighth seed. They never faced elimination throughout the entire playoffs. They beat the Presidents trophy winning Canucks in five, swept the Blues, beat Phoenix in five, and beat the Devils in six. They probably should’ve swept the Devils too. Steve Bernier will regret taking that five minute boarding penalty for the rest of his life.
I was born in 99 so even though the Devils won cups in my lifetime, this was the only final I truly remember as a kid. Hopefully one day we will be back again.
This Kings team with their size good enough speed unreal forecheck and elite goaltending probably could have won every cup in the dead puck era my gosh this team was elite

Refs gave this game to LA. 5 minute major might have been warranted, but they missed a penalty on the back end of the play.
