Romanov is a good third-hitting D and in return they got Dach who’s a big skilled third line center. Habs got the same value back in this trade…just different position.
There is many young kids that can jump in and fill his role better the. He could and now they have a powerful Forward that has an upside time will tell
Who would roast you for the pronunciation of Drioun? The same losers who had MB trade Sergachev for the useless bum. None of their opinions matter.
I gotta admit when i heard they traded Romanov, I wasn't happy. But u nailed it, he does hit like a truck, and thats why we loved him, it definitely wasn't his puck moving skills, or his defensive game, OR even his offensive game for that matter, he can HIT! Hard! He was fun to watch, especially last season, we didnt have much to cheer for. But comparing Romanov and Sergachev… I dont know, there's A LOT of difference in their games. Romanov can hit, but he isn't a Sergachev, and even if the trade doesn't work out super, if Dach is a bust, we didnt hurt the team to acquire him, we have a TON of D prospects coming up. Romanov could have found himself playing on the third pairing, and not getting any minutes. i like the trade, both teams filled a need, hopefully Romanov goes on to have a great career (except when playing the Habs!), lol. And hopefully Dach fits in, and MSL can unlock that potential and set him loose!!

Totally agree and looking forward to watching the new crew on the back end …I would bring several of them up .Trade out Savard and Wideman to clear space ..Let the young guys gell and learn to play together while tanking for a couple more years for high drafting slots …BTW we also need to pick up a couple more young goalies !!

Isles fan – I don't think canadiens will regret trading Romanov, but win listing all those defensemen, you forget none are proven. Isles got to the semi-finals two years in a row with strong defense – they don't grow on trees. However, if you have the D depth, then good trade for both teams

Nah. He hit hard but that was the only thing he did good. Way to many goals went in on his shifts. He left our goalies out to dry last year. Habs gave him a chance and he never grew into a proper D-man. You can't be waiting and praying forever a kid will grow into his game.
Maybe a change of pace will do him good? Maybe he will take his job a bit more seriously now and start to be a responsible defensemen. Hitting only gets you so far. Especially nowadays when every other hit is a penalty.
They will regret it because they are over rating their prospect pool of D men.Bad management decisions will continue to hamper tho team and imo Hughes will walk away as soon as thee team starts losing badly ..again then they will hire another French guy and spend another 20 years struggling.
I thought Hughes was going to be the guy that huge upgrade in management but after seeing the lol hype over Kirby Dach i just shook my head in disbelief.Dach is a bum a 3rd or 4th line player i wouldn't waste my time on him.
They will miss him when he flattens Suzuki or Caulfield into oblivion.

Romanov is def a 30-35 p d man who blocks shots , kills plays and hits hard . Great skater also . I believe Romy will become a solid top 4 d-man . But for Dach bet
Sounds to me like a bunch of wishful thinking. Guess you have to hope for the best as a Habs fan, that Romanov will somehow fail while paired with Noah Dobson on the second pairing. The same Noah Dobson that the Canucks and other teams apparently have a hard on for.

I agree. The Habs traded Romanov because they knew they had young up and comers who could fill his spot. That being said, I really liked Romanov as a person; he seemed to genuinely love to be a Hab.
