It's about time somebody spoke the truth. Ive been saying for years he's the best leaf
Your break downs and play analysis is great as always keep it up!
Love Marner.
I would agree. He makes so many great plays that don’t end in points..
It's so true. When Marner is down it's like the whole team is losing something. I never saw this happening with Matthews.
MID MARNER
FAXS!
He is lazy at times
Totally agree
Without Marner, Matthews and Tavaris totals would be cut in half! Look at the line changes this year, Tavaris is thriving, Matthews is struggling. The only difference is who Marner is playing with………
Been saying this for a long time but I always thought he should have had more serious conversations had about him being named captain. Its pretty easy to tell from a handful of games that he is the heartbeat and he will literally play any roll.
Nobody contests this though…. The problem with the leafs is that their current combination of players just can’t seal the deal. Marner was on this team and on the ice in some of their biggest blunders, and boy has there been a lot of them.
The Architect of the team.
He’s the reason that I became a Leafs fan.
Don't think he will ever win the Selke
He also morphs into harry houdini and does the disappearing act come playoffs
No argument from me. BUT as a 59-year old who has seen the game in an era that just pre-dated Wayne Gretzky, I think that Austen Matthews will be forever remembered in hockeylore.
A spot in that building on Yonge Street between Front and Wellington is pretty much a certainty for Matthews and is highly probable for Mitch Marner.
But in 2050 hockey fans not yet born today will know of Austen Matthews – not sure that they will recognize Mitch Marner's name.
I will reiterate that I agree with everything stated in this video about Mitch Marner. Looking back to the end of the 1978 – 1979 season, Bryan Trottier finished first in points with 137 (47 goals 90 assists) He was known as the best all-round player in the league for skills and playmaker and so effectively the last guy to be the best player in the NHL before Wayne Gretzky entered the league. But one day when I said to a 21-year old kid that given the skill levels of today's hockey players John Tavares is probably the greatest forward to dawn an Islanders jersey.
His answer: "Even better than Mike Bossy?" ; he had never heard of Bryan Trottier.
My point is that with time, details through history can be lost and forgotten. Mitch Marner will be only be remembered by fans who see him through his career but the future generations will remember Matthews but not Marner.
Leafs record without Marner or Matthews:
Matthews: 29-15-2
Marner: 10-12-4
For context, last season's finale against Boston (which isn't included in the records)was the first time both Matthews and Marner were both missing from the line up since they joined the team.
Agree
This is a problem, having one player dictate a team's success is a sure fire way to not have team success. You need more than one player to bring energy. You also need a leader and players who know when they need to step up and command their teammates when it matters most. MM might 'be the guy' in your eyes, but we've seen what this Leafs team has been able to accomplish when it matters most, and it's lacking.
Agreed
🤣🤣🤣🤣 little mitchie is SWEET FUCK AL,L until he does it in the playoffs. So far the only thing he has proven is that he's still a kid. #1stroundexitagain !
I'm all in on Captain Marner.
Give him an extra 10.millons a year
Leaf fans love marner. Media likes to put him down tho
Totally agree!
Marner is the MAIN reason i start watching the Leafs again
I have been saying this for a few years. Penalty kill, powerplay, offense, defense. He does it all and makes every player he plays with better! The engine on this team!
too easily intimidated…. disappears when play gets mean…
I’ve always been in his corner. Look at his assist alone … he is the dangle king…. His ice IQ is above all. Marner for Mayor bruh
Explains why the Leafs are so soft and always bow out in the first round 🤣
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I think most people who were paying attention since 2017 could tell mitch was the most important player. He does every job and strategy while making his teammates better. Auston is amazing, but his goal scoring is a factor of 1 while mitch's playmaking is a factor of 5.
Tim Horton is more important than Marner
As a leafs fan since I could remember, I agree with you 👍
Great selection of highlights to show Marner's amazing skills! His situational awareness is off the charts and your comment, "Marner's' vision is second to none."is spot on. 2:06!!!
