Kaner. I think he’s matured and the pause of employment helped his perspective. I’m ok with term for him as well. Still will take a few extra penalties but we need the snarl.
Love to see Oilers acquire Giroux; excellent in the face off circle, power play, and will take some pressure off of Draisaitl who is relied too much in the face off circle. I’d rather have Giroux, he’s a step up from Evander Kane! He’s physical and does not take unnecessary penalties something Kaner does too often!
Kane for 2-5 years over Giroux. Kane has the better record last season but takes a bit more penalties but Edmonton doesn't need another veteran slowing down. 5 years is a bit of a risk but better risk imo than Giroux (who is already starting to slow down) on being able to be effective that long. We already have veterans like Keith and Smith (should he have to come off LTIR). Kane is 30 now so he should be ok for the next 3ish years. I highly doubt Kane will go for a 1 season offer. UFA status in back to back seasons is way too unstable and I'm betting he'd like to give his new family a solid home life instead of worrying about having to uproot just as their lives are getting established. Wouldn't doubt Kane insisting for a 5 year deal. I just don't see Giroux going the distance. Maybe the first year or 2 but then he will just turn into another aging player jumping on and off the LTIR wagon. Edmonton plays fast and physical. Holland has to start realizing that players approaching 32+ can't consistently be hard forecheckers without getting injury prone. Their bodies can't hold up for a full season plus playoffs. We need a good trade for Puljujarvi (if they still are trying to deal him away) with a younger player like Dylan Strome

Really,really try to sign Evander Kane.If not then a forward like Nino Neiderreider.Giroux could also look at Winnipeg.I think that the money should be spent on a goalie,that's what I would look at first.It isnt that Edmonton has to shake things up a lot.Pending loses Tyson Barrie,Jesse P.,and other ufas.Once that is done than go for Evander Kane and a stud goalie and backup.
I sure hope not because we need a goalie and a dman to many chiefs not enough Indians. This must mean that we might not get Kane back but idk why not the sharks won’t take him back either will the fans but us oilers would love for him to stay
Kane fit too well with the Oil and is my number one choice but if the term is too long then I’m on the fence with you Patrick. Giroux would be a nice pick up at a reasonable price and again a plan B if Kane is not signed. Schwartz as goalie coach has not worked well for the oil but the teams that pick up our goalies after seem to have better success . That said Cody Ceci stepped up last season. Bouchard is developing well and strong defence makes better goalies. Interesting times. Keep the vids rolling .
Still want Kane 100%. Giroux will not still be available, when we find out about Kane. But…. that may change if Keith retires? Still need a goalie and some D upgrades though
The oilers do not need claude giroux, the oilers should be spending that money on getting better defense, the oilers offense is good and even if the the oilers did need better offense they should get a player that has more years left in his career
