  1. He’s a too 5 goal scorer in the nhl. Ahead of Matthews. Win win win for the Isles.

  2. Still good for both
Vancouver gets 1st I know protected but it could end up like Ottawa few years ago you can't protect 2yrs in a row and Canucks won't be good in one year so next year will still have good 1sts.
Raty will be 2nd or good 3rd line guy in future.
And Beauvillier if don't want can boost his value and flip for a 2nd or prospect at deadline.
It's win for both teams as long as resigns

  3. Beauvillier isn't snake-bitten. He's gotten his shots on net most games and the kid just can't finish. He should have 15-20 goals by now. I think Raty will be the better asset for Vancouver long term. My inner pessimistic Islander fan intuition is that unless Lou makes another trade or two, the Isles still miss the playoffs. I think this Lou's last year as GM, the move reeks of desperation.

  4. Raty is also a great 200 foot player, he might develop into a selke candidate. He's a fascinating prospect.

  5. No way Lamarillo makes this deal without knowing he can extend Horvat. At first glance, the return was underwhelming. But… Raty is considered to be a solid prospect, and was likely the key to the deal getting done. Have to obviously wait to see how this plays out. Canucks need blueline help badly, so surprised they did not pursue that. Considering that Horvat was going to walk, Canucks did okay on this under the circumstances. Lamarillo finally woke up and did something.

  6. while we don’t have evidence, Lou would not make this deal if there was an indication that Horvat was not going to sign.

  7. how can the islanders net more for BO than the canucks.. first.. if they are out of a spot.. the odds of getting into the top 12 just got that much higher and the odds of giving canucks a top 10 first next year just shot up.. PLUS.. even if they get a first back.. its a first from a team in picks 18+ this year…

  8. As a lifelong Canuck fan I think this trade is decent. If the Islanders flipped him at the trade deadline and somehow got a better trade I could care a less. This was not the Islanders secret plan it means things went sideways and they had to try and recover their losses. Now if they flipped Bo tomorrow for more then LOL…

  9. It was a good trade for Vancouver and an even better trade for the leafs because Horvat didn't go to Boston.

  10. This just means that the Bruins believe that Fabian Lysell is going to be a good prospect.

  11. I'm pretty sure Alan Walsh mentioned on his showed that conditions on player resigning was removed in New cba

  12. As an Isles fan – I couldn't agree more on Beau. Canucks retained 25% of Horvat salary and so the cap # on Beau & Horvat are neutral. Isles still have cap for another move. Beau gets a fresh start where he will get lots of TOI and will likely be a solid 50+ point guy. Losing Raty sucks – but if Isles are able to sign Horvat, this is a great deal for Isles. I think with the top 12 protection and 25% salary retained – slight edge to Isles, and if they are able to resign Bo < $8m AAV or flip him at the deadline… they are the clear winners here.

  13. Semyon Varlomov's contract expires this offseason. He makes over $4million. With Beauvillier's money that's $8m. Figure $1.5m taken out for a new back-up goalie, there's $6.5 towards what Horvat will eventually cost. There's still work to do, but they can make it work.

  14. Terrible trade for the isles, even if they resign they aren’t close not sure why they would be giving up draft stock for a 27 year old who has probably peaked

  15. I would have liked to see the Canucks get a D man back. The Isles WILL re-sign Horvat. They wouldn't have made that deal if they didn't plan on re-signing him.

  16. with the salary the canucks took on and percentage they kept on bo's contract,,they lost short term. The stats on the new guys are c-c+ at best..and Raty's skating ability = luke schenn..

  17. Considering a good amount of fans on both sides are pissed…it's probably fair for both sides.

  18. Love Beau but this season and last was not good for him, he needed a shift and i hope he becomes a solid top 6 player, But hellllloooooo Bo Horvat

  19. Correct me if I'm wrong, steve, but I'm pretty sure the nhl made an amendment to the CBA making the conditionality illegal on picks surrounding the acquiring team resigning the player.

  20. MFA was traded for Mikael Hakkarainen who unfortunately retired from hockey this past summer with a heart condition.

  21. Always painful when losing your cap 💔 it's pettersson team now he is the chosen one

  22. I am actually surprised Demko wasn't thrown in there, considering the Canucks got that highly desirable top 12 protected first rounder
