  1. Seems like a very fast trade. Still time and other teams to potentially shop and ensure the best job at maxing out your return. To me it just doesn't feel like Vancouver really got much for horvat.

  2. As a Canucks fan I am beyond frustrated with the complete incompetence of the previous general manager who left the Canucks in salary cap hell!
Just like the Seattle Mariners, the Canucks seem to have a knack for being the greatest mediocre NHL team in history!
Way to go guys, you have to trade away your most productive player and capital to get…???
    P.S.
someone needs let Elías Petterson know he is the best player on the ice most games and he needs to shoot the damn puck every time he gets it for a while!!!

  3. just looked at cap friendly and it looks like a great deal better then giving him away at the trade deadline. i more year and a first with a young big prospect. with only retaining money for this year.
hoping now for shitty 2 years for the islanders even though they are my eastern team with buffalo sorta 😐😐

  4. Actually, Bo Horvat was part of the fan vote so maybe they just have him play in place of Auston Mathews or something for the East

  5. Listen your theory has one major flaw, Lou won't do that and the return would 100% not be more than they gave up.
They might get a 1st in the 28-32 range while giving up a 13th + this season or whatever next season.
Also in order for that to happen the islanders would have to be completely done by the time the deadline approaches in a month.
It's far more likely he's signed ro an 8 year deal anyone that thinks they would somehow end up with a better package are out to lunch, I mean if a better offer existed the nucks would simply have done that deal, it's not like Bo will somehow increase in value.
Horvat has 2 goals in his last 10 one was an empty netter and while I'm a big fan of him there are a many red flags with him.

He's having a year where he's shooting 22% compared to 14% his average, he's mainly a pp specialist that isn't good at all defensively which is why he only started killing penalties last year and does not do it well.
But perhaps the biggest thing that most nuck fans will tell you is he's never ever been a guy that makes his wingers better and yes Iknow this season he's racking up assists but a lot of those have come from guys like EP, JT and Quinn and they are mostly secondary.
Don't get me wrong I think he's better than his career numbers but he's not a guy who can be a 1c and produce.
And for all the people saying he's better than JT need to stop, JT is having a down year and is still far out-pacing Horvats best full season and both are not great defensively.
The thing is tho JT in 3 seasons before this one was on pace for 90, had 99 and one 70ish pace in the bubble season, while likely finishes over a ppg this season.

  6. It is a wait and see trade. Bottom line is, Bo isn't worth more than 6.5 million so we don't want him at 7 million+ in Vancouver

  7. With regarding to the All-Star circumstances, technically he does have to represent the Canucks sadly even though he was traded. It would be sick if he was to play in metro all stars, but the roster was confirmed regardless of any trade occurrence. Basically, it’ll be identical to like you mentioning All-Star MVP legend John Scott while he represented Arizona Coyotes.

  8. It's a sad day. We lose an awesome guy/player who should still be a Canuck, but instead we have Miller. Someone who throws tantrums on the bench and slaps his stick at yells at goalies. If Rutherford and Alvin aren't secretly wishing for a time machine, they are both idiots.

  9. I like this trade for the Islanders in the short term. But if this works, the Islanders will play the Bruins in the first round of the playoffs and they will be gone in four blowout losses.

I've never thought much of Lou Lamoriello. Is Lamoriello looking at something more than just making the playoffs this year, or is this a desperate attempt to save his job? Because in the long term this could be a bad deal for the Islanders.

  10. What happens with the all star game now that he's traded? Does he still make it but under the isles instead of the canycks and the canucks don't get a new player in or does it change now?

  11. A is my grade. Raty will be better than BO in 2 years. the guy was projected number 1 overall.2 yrs ago. We really got 3 1st rounders for Bo. we will likely get number 13 to 18.pick this year in a deep draft.

  12. As an Isles fan, if I were a Canucks fan, I'd be more excited about Raty than Beauvillier. Raty has better hands, more size. Beauvillier has some speed, but doesn't often use it very effectively.

  13. Horvat was also the pick that Lou traded for Cory Schneider.

Another one that's fascinating is wondering if this was the same package that Lou offered for JT Miller at the draft.

  14. He’s either gonna be signed or be flipped with a mediocre return. Canucks still win this trade

  15. I like you idea about Lou but could Canucks not be thinking of doing the same thing. I am sure they were talking to a lot of teams about Boeser as well for a new start for him. Next big guy would be Timo. Rumors say first-rounder — and one Grade-A or two Grade-B prospects, or one good prospect and a young, established NHL player. Boeser has term, raaty and if they are savy a 2024 first rounder.

  16. A-. I can see them signing him to a long term contract and if he fails to deliver and they slide out of the playoffs I can see them try to flip him before his contract kicks in next season if they can get a crazy deal with lots of prospects and another 1st round.

  17. Bo will come back down to earth. We’ll sign him again in the summer because who the hell wants to play for the isles.

  18. Isles fan here. If Bo gets extended that’s a major W. If not, trade turns into a dumpster fire

  19. Horvat can sign new contract in June/July with whomever he pleases. Canucks can resign him later, years down the road after his value has plummeted.

  20. Love the Islanders but Raty is going to be unique. May come to regret this trade long-term. I would have liked the Islanders to be sellers and start building through the draft and farm system.

  21. Can a player still be traded twice a season? I thought it was just once per season max now.

  22. If they do that then they’re taking a big risk because their unprotected first could be a lottery pick

  23. Lou wants to make the playoffs and thinks he can do it with Bo, so it’ll take a major nose dive in the next 12 games for the Isles to flip Horvat at the deadline, which is unlikely so we’ll probably see him finish the season on Long Island as he helps his team crack the final wildcard spot.
