Is it going to be an overpay when ROR takes the hometown discount? 😏
It really isn't an over payment. A late first, mid second, and a fourth for O'Reilly with salary retained. A third for Acciari. Both Gaudette and Abramov are throw ins to even out the contracts. Abramov's projected ceiling is what? Bottom 6?
The price is exactly what the team was willing to pay for players. They weren't going to get Timo for this. They get to hold onto Knies. It's a win for the Leafs that solidifies their bottom 6.
dude if you think this is an over payment in any sort of way you clearly have no clue what youre talking about man. Its a late first, a late second, a mid third, late fourth all of which arent even the same season. Theyre paying ROR 1.85 and Acciari at 1.25 leaving them room to make more deals all the while keeping all of their best prospects, this is a home run deal for the Leafs
O'reillys best days are behind him leafs gave up to much
Don’t worry leafs will be a first round exit
Overpay ??? Playoff mvp one of the best 2 way players in the way get traded without getting a 1st.. The leafs keep knives , sandian , lily good trade
and it is a bad trade. why? ror on a down year. 12 goals. doesn't necessarily push this lot of floaters past Tampa bay, the premiere, perennial playoff juggernaughts, let alone Boston and our future has been mortgaged by Dubas trying, yet again to save his job by 'winning now'.
Josh Pillar from the Wild was the final piece. The Wild weren't going to sign him anyway so just kind of a throw in.
Over paying would of been giving up knies us a 1st. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
ROR. 12 goals. Engvall 11 goals.
sure. take our first rounder. dubas is such a tit.
rental. this doesn't put us past tb or bos. god dubas sucks.
One 2nd round pic 2024
Every year the Leafs do this, Thorton – Filigino – Spetza – Marleau etc. and every year Leaf fans say that was the missing piece. Time will tell, but history is not on their side.
Another AWFUL Dubas move. I can't wait for him to go to be honest
Not an overpay, especially when you consider Armie will blow the picks on high floor, low ceiling scrubs q
Still convinced your tagline is pure gibberish
Omg Dubas is done as TB will eliminate them again. Great trade for the Blues.
we will see tomorrow
You’re an idiot to say that Kyle Dubas overpaid.
They traded 1st round pick + 3rd round pick for orielly.
They traded 2nd round pick of accari.
Seems like market value to me.
Torontos weakest point is their forward depth.
You say overpayment, I say payment to go deep in this years playoffs.
They will knock out tampa and boston
a really late 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick, a 3rd round pick, and a 4th round pick.
Gaudette and Abramov both ahlers and aren't top prospects. Leafs kept Knies, Robertson, Niemela.
These 3 way trades are cool. Seems like the only way to do blockbuster trades like these in a hard cap league.
We kept Knies and Niemela and got 2 solid gritty players. As a Leafs fan I’m happy and I think both the Blues and Wild are happy
You have 0 credibility, terrible views of the game. Will not watch again.
This is far from an over payment all the salary retention is well worth what they gave up. It was a pretty equal trade for both teams imo..a prospect that may or may not be a 3rd line center in the future and Adam Gaudet who's nothing more than a depth guy who's been playing on the Marlies all year. The first round pick is probably gonna be 25th or later. It may seem like a lot but when you break it all down it's really pretty fair value, all things considered. Plus if dubas gets O'Reilly signed to a cheap hometown extension. It's definitely a huge win.
I like O'Reilly but a 1st, 2x2nd and players on top does seem a bit high 😟
How is this an overpay? The leafs need to get salary retention and 50% of a 7.5m contact is a lot of salary retention when the cap didn’t go up dramatically this year. You are paying for a conn smythe player and a Stanley cup champion. The guy can play as a top 6 or top 9 in both center and winger and you get a second player who also has play off experience and bottom 6 with more hits this year than anyone on the Toronto roster. You know who people said was an over pay ? Kawhi Leonard but guess what they won the NBA finals and everyone said Masai Ujiri was a genius.
