W trade for wings
Canucks are dusty
It sucks. Vrana had an incredible amount of potential to be a legit force on the Wings. But in the end, this was inevitable and in the end anything was better than having take up cap and roster space just so sit on the bench 80% of the time
Man, we'll probably never know what happened here. Maybe something will leak now that he's gone, but I have to wonder if Stevie just felt burned by Vrana going into PAP and decided he had no use for a guy he can't count on.
this will go own as potentialy one of the top 10 the worst trades in history for red wings, cant wait to see jakob tear it up once again for the blue an give bingington some time to breath with his offence
I was worried about his attitude from the time I heard his press conference with the winged wheel. I hope he does great things in St. Louis!
I hope this is what is best for him. Sad to see him go, but what is most important (at least for me) is that he gets himself taken are of, it appears that he is battling some demons and I just want him to do what is best for him, whatever that may be.
He must have either did or said something that angered or disappointed the Red Wings management and they just wanted to get rid of him. Pretty disappointing on a player who looked to have so much promise.
Detroit is retaining half salary this year AND NEXT YEAR….. :/
Great pickup for St. Louis! its nice to see the Red Wings doing the player the favor of giving him a new change in scenery. Although I wish the return was more, teams could've had him for free! Nonetheless, on the Red Wings standpoint, this is a win to not take on his full contract
While he was put on waivers and wasn’t claimed. I guess that says something.
Low cost scratch-off for the blues. Might be a big winner, might be nothin.
He’s got the ability, but something else has been up.
All about Wings getting his salary off the books for better than losing him on waivers.
I'm can admit that I was wrong. Of course, I think for most of us Wings fans, questions abound as to why it had come to this. Were there bridges burned, for example.
The only upside here is, we Wings fans gave Kenny Holland a ton of crap for holding onto guys well beyond when it became obvious those players really weren't worth hanging on to. The fact that Stevie isn't afraid to take an L on what appeared to be a great player is important for us as fans, and them as a team.
What St Louis gets is someone who could be an incredible reclamation project. Help the guy find his game again, etc. Prior to entering the Players Assistance Program, Vrana had scored the same amount of goals in ~1/3 fewer games than Mantha, and that'd be incredible if he could return to that form.
Best of luck on the Blues, Vrana!
Good riddance. Less than a point per game in the AHL. Lucky we got anything for Vrana.
This is a situation where the Blues get more than the Wings lose. At 2.65 mil Vrana has value. At the 2024 trade deadline he has pretty good value at 1.325 mil if St. Louis eats half. He might fetch a 2-4 round pick next year. I think Yzerman is saying hey… I like dealing players with you. I'm a good friend to have. Let's do business in the future.
Let's watch the next couple years with the Wings and Blues and see what happens. This could just be a way to encourage future considerations.
So… we dumped vrana and kept Chairot. Great 🙄
I think him and Steve got into it
Luv how Stevie works! never holds onto things that doesn’t help them moving forward. You win some n lose some. Everything he’s done before trade deadline, I wish Canucks would do. Getting cap space, moving headaches etc. He knows this team won’t go far if they make playoffs n knows this team needs more retooling in the summer. He takes advantage of other teams before deadline.
Possibly Yzerman returning favor to the Blues after getting Husso… Blues and Wings definitely have good relations
Love this. Giving Vrana and Kapanen a chance to play lots of minutes and revive their careers.
More draft picks hopefull i'm not dead before we make the playoffs
Well so much for the Yzerman fleeced the caps narrative
Right now Washington has to feel worthy of shipping him out for Mantha. Mantha is no superstar but Detroit took on a lot of drama in this Vrana situation. Only positive is Vrana and Zadina had some spark with their play out on the ice, then it was over.
Yezerman is ruthless! Agree with you. They were messing with this kids head! I hope he tears it up with the Blues!
Read somewhere that he needed help for substance abuse
mclaughlin and a 7th and detroit retained salary !! lol
another yzerman masterclass 🤣🤣🤣
Trust the Yzerplan
Yzerman will find a way to flip this 7th rounder into a 1st and 2nd.
I liked all the trades except for Hronek. Still trying to understand that…
Yep, this deal can't be seen as anything other than a team friendly deal. I'm okay with the whole deal as it gives Vrana a new change in scenery and opens up a place for others. Because it was obvious that he was not part of the team and as long as he sat out for the small return that will be here, it does not justify the poor handling that becomes the fact that a minor deal can drag on for so long here.
