Couldn’t watch the game tonight, not a good effort clearly. Kyper and Bourne mentioned since the trade deadline the leafs are last in the league in advanced stats (expected goals for 5 on 5 and most expected goals against 5 on 5).
I have to say before watching this game I’d been thinking Keefe was bringing out the blender too much. This is 100% not on Dubas anymore. Keefe’s been doing it on and off all season, but now for a month straight since picking up ROR. The only reason you shake things up is injuries or consistently bad play. The D-core was fine but needed some added grit. Needed an upgrade on Holl which we got (McCabe). Schenn brought in for grit. Gustafsson is really not needed unless you have an injury in the top 6. Barring injuries (which there hasn’t really been any on D), these additions (Schenn, Gus) should have only been swapping in with our 6th man (Holl) on 5 game stints to see how they roll out. Lilly is having himself a break out year and in the name of the Keefe Blender ™️ you sit a young guy building confidence. Seems like Keefe’s loyalty to his guys warps his lineup decisions and he’s not good at adapting on the fly
100% correct analysis. Too much line changes. If 70 games isnt enough to know who fits where…then coach needs some help.
No round 1 finish this year boys. Expect to be destroyed (prob 4 straight). The lines are a mess. The players have 0 confidence and chemistry and it's far too late in the season to generate that. The coach has lost this team.
Leafs problem is there top 4. They need to trade Matthews for 2-3 good tough sizeable players. Marner is a magic man and I am kind of two minds with him. He is a lot like Matt Barzal. He is small and makes incredible plays but when the tough stuff comes he either needs to either be covered (like Semenko did for Gretzky) or he just needs to be traded like Matthews for good, tough players. Nylander is unfortunately in the same boat and Tavares best days are long behind him for what he makes. His salary should be in the 5-6 million dollar range and that's it. These players have handicapped the Leafs and it is a soft forward contingent that will lose in the playoffs.
They lack passion and work ethic😢. I wonder if Keefe has lost the locker room?

Keefe doesn't have a clue what he's doing. As long as this clown is the coach, the leafs will never win anything because his coaching tactics SUCK
