  1. Well said-you nailed it Rudo. This is gonna be a war-but young Seattle might rue letting the champs up off the mat, when they had them down. Rudy Tomjohnovich once said about his Houston Rockets, after an unlikely repeat title-"never underestimate the heart of a champion." Its not just a cliche-its absolutely true,& something I never forget-even when Im not picking a deffending champ to repeat.(like this yrs Avs). You never can totally write off proven championship teams. These Avs even more so-not just winning the cup last yr-but arguably better proof of their resilience-just in surviving beyond unfair,& ridiculous injuries this season.

Young teams usually have to learn a hard playoff lesson or 2-before learning how to break through.(see NJ) And now for 1st time-Seattle has some pressure on them. Avs still have more pressure, but Seattle had none before the series,& even less tonight-already stealing a road game. It made me nervous how incredibly loose they seemed, warming up with a soccer ball-when I passed them before game 1-in the bowels of Ball arena. This isnt hindsight,I have a text to 92.5 proving it made me very concerned-like 90 minutes or so before puck drop. They didnt seem deer in headlights or nervous at all-granted I saw them interacting for like 30 seconds at most.

But in game 3,theyll be at home,& having proven they can win the series-they now have expectations. Whatever happens-no way theyll be quite so free,& loose. They now have something to lose. Subconsciously inexperienced teams sometimes get too cute, try to put on a show for the fans & can get frustrated quicker at home. The longer game 3 is scoreless-the better for us-though youd obviously love to score early yourself. Exact opposite dynamic for the games in Denver-especially tonight-in a must win for Colorado. Then got badly exasperated, when we fall behind 2-0. Game 3 isnt must win,but now "ya probably better win" game for Seattle.

Avs are a better road team, than home this yr-Im pretty sure how theyll respond. But we are about to find out if Seattle is merely a team with a promising future-whos still not quite ready for prime time,& has to learn the lessons that almost every future champion has to learn the hard way-or the rare largely playoff inexperienced team that has the resilience,& poise to knock off the champs. Kraken have a few guys whove been there, but most of them have none or limited playoff experience.

I have a feeling they might have missed their best chance tonight-how close was it to being 3-0 on that breakaway with less than a minute, left in the 1st? Or if they go up 3-2 on that 3 on 1 late in 2nd-after we dominated the period. Avs wouldnt have quit in either situation, but those wouldve been far tougher hills to overcome-more mentally than anything. I think wed be looking at 0-2,& while it wouldnt be over-many would think it is,& it wouldnt look good at all.I like our chances now,but its probably going 6 or 7…not the 5 that I predicted.

  2. I should know better than to have these thoughts, but there was a moment in the first period when I started to feel like Seattle was going to sweep the Avs. From the second period on, and despite a few breakdowns in front of King George, the Avs turned it up. Not sure if between periods some "high quality H20" was delivered, or "Michael's Secret Stuff," but hopefully the momentum continues into Saturday. Josh Manson = redeemed. Devon Toews = redeemed. Georgiev = redeemed. Nichushkin = redeemed. I love the excitement, but damn Gina, can the Avs play a full 60 minutes so I can save a few cold brews for the next game?

  3. I dunno what happened in the room after that first period but they went from absolute garbage to remembering they're a good hockey team. Toews especially was trash before that

  4. These sloppy odd man break HAVE TO STOP HAPPENING if the crackheads are doing it LATER ROUNDS WERE INTROUBLE if we make it there because teams get better and better every round

  5. That first intermission is the part in the movie where Bednar makes the dramatic speech. Then the Avs come out and dominate. Now is the montage that just plays music and you get to see a bunch of nice Avs goals.
