My Kings fans it's okay. Let them underestimate us. Clearly neither of these two has ever seen a Kings game and at this point watching these previews I am beginning to question if any of these analysts have ever watched or played hockey. Such hackiness is beyond belief. First off we have been a "borderline playoff team" for the past two years already. Two years ago the season was suspended when we were on a 7 game winning streak with 14 games remaining. We WOULD have made it. Last year with that STUPID NONSENSICAL realignment (I mean Montreal made it to the finals what a freaking joke) it put all of the weakest teams in the league in one division and all of the strongest in ours, and yet we still almost made it. This year with things back to some semblance of normality and with our youth stepping into the forefront, I am calling it now, we make the playoffs (no "Canadian" team does) and we #ReclaimOurThrone shocking all the critics. #GKG
Oh yeah and as for Doughty, Kopitar and Quick. Still the best in the world at their respective positions, but 3 people cannot make the playoffs on their own let alone win a cup. Wait Watch and see. All 3 of those have at least a decade of dominant hockey left in them. I guarantee it.

Honestly a dark horse team to make the playoffs considering how weak the division is. If Byfield and Turcotte adjust perfectly into the NHL, they definitely can finish as a wild card. Even if they don’t, they’re still on track to be a good team in a year or two.

The Kings just might squeak into a playoff spot in the Pacific Division this season considering the division isn't as strong as it might've been a few years ago. It's a very possibility. And the Kings look as if they're almost through the hard part of their rebuilding process as well. They're not necessarily a legitimate contender in the West just yet but they could sneak into a wildcard position perhaps.
Honestly, I think they ARE a playoff team. With Kopitar AND Danault, it's going to be really hard for other teams' top players to match up w/ that and produce offensively. Arvidsson and Tkachev add a little scoring punch on the wings. Bjornfot, Vilardi, and Mikey Anderson 1 year older/hopefully better. Then you have Byfield, Turcotte, Fagemo, Clague, Kaliyev, Kupari, etc etc etc as young players who are going to be fighting HARD for roster spots/playing time. Could be a sneaky good roster/team.

Still uncertain about their goaltending, but I think they're going to be able to take a big step forward this season.
Damault is going to be a huge addition for them.

Typical east coast bias. Byfield is not going to make the roster. Much more likely Ramus Kupari starts at 3c. Kings will finish 3rd in the weak Pacific.
Blake expected them to make the playoffs last year? I am not a fan of Blake as a GM been a spin down the bowl last 4 years. A lot of first round picks need to pick it up this year. A ton of teams make the playoff getting a seed is very possible. Kopitar and Brown are going thru the motions, Quick age and multiple surgeries is a ghost of himself .Daughty wants to win now he stated that end of season .
