If championships were based on Publicity, Promotion, Promise…the Leafs would have won 50 Championships. The "brilliant" Shanahan, hired a fancy stat kid over Mark Hunter and turned the Team into a Country Club. Now the fools are talking about ridding themselves of Mitch…far and away tbe best player on the Team. Look at the numbers, he didn't fail the Team in the post season, he led in points, had one of tge best +/- and is their best on PP and PK. I wonder what tbe spin will be next. I'm a dumbass hockey nut and made this call months ago. Once the rose coloured glasses are removed, it was easy to see the shortcomings. You can blame the Coach, but he cared for more than some players. He can't give a heart transplant. Nor can Keafe play defence; beyond Schen and Reilly they were, what, -26 after 11 gms? When the $11m/Yr Mathews cowers away from the 5-10 175lb Konecny with a passion to compete/win…it speaks volumes. Fans and the media were far too busy making excuses and ignored the hard reality. This is the NHL, not a League in Switzerland. Some want it far more than others.

The second goal by Reilly not allowed by the referees was a goal, why do they have all those technologies for if they do not use it? It clearly interfered on the game's final result and elimination of Toronto. In such a disputed game like this you can not have those kind of mistakes

As a Panthers fan, we haven’t been to the Eastern conference finals since 1996 and have never won a Stanley Cup. I think this year is the best shot we’re going to ever get. We’re on fire at the right time.

Austin Matthews was a beast in that series. He stood up to the challenge and scored goals like crazy for the Leafs. He justified his large contract i'll tell you that much.
As a casual hockey fan I think both teams and fanbases deserved to move on. Great hockey this year

Just so it's said that IS a goal. I remember when Nikolai Khabibulin was the Lightning's goaltender in the finals against Calgary and the same kind of thing happened. Calgary, another Canadian team, was ripped off of an important win in the series. To say the play was dead is bogus. That puck crossed that line. It's just the zebras didn't want to deal with the controversy of it and Toronto was in a 3-1 hole in the series. Thus, it wasn't game 7. So, in a sense, Toronto did victimize themselves on this a bit. However, the refs should've made the right call anyway.
