Nylander makes almost 4 million less therefore a significantly better contract considering his playoff production, I can’t imagine a single team in the league taking Marners contract unless they throw in sweeteners
while everyone is saying that nylander is being hated on too much, as a lightning fan i focused a lot on his play in both rounds. and let me say that people think he is way better than he really is. watch him when he's on the ice. very low hockey iq. he never chips the puck up the boards, goes into puck battles, or wins them, etc. i think his style of simply trying to look cool isn't gonna cut it and he's been figured out by defenses league wide. i'm not saying he's bad. i'm saying he's in the average/slightly above average tier but people think he's better. toronto's whole big 4 was all asleep this series anyways. trade him for more than you should get.

Nylander at 6.9 million > Marner at 10.9 million. I'd take Nylander every day of the week and put the 4 million elsewhere. I don't care for a player heading a puck, spinorama one hand on a knee passes, essentially anything Marner is trying to do to make the highlight reel

The series was closer than you think, 2 OT losses and every game was by 1 goal. The tightest series of all of them. Losing 4-1 doesn't accurately describe this series. This could of easily gone the distance.
Had this series gone 7 games than this season would have been considered successful. So I think people are over-reacting to the loss. Yes, they played terribly against Florida, but it's not like they had a disappointing season like the flames did…

Leafs fan here. In terms of changes, I don't care anymore. Let them gut the team; get rid of all of them. It's never worked and its not going to start working.
