I suspect Treliving will change the cap and focus towards a top 4 D and away from the core forwards as a group. This means at least one of the three will be traded at some point.
I just don't see the infatuation with Mathews. Regular season cash cow but playoff bust. I am not a leafs hater what so ever, but he will never win the cup in Toronto if he is the main guy they look to.

"Hell of a job"?? hmmm…seems to me at least getting a roster that gets a team into the playoffs is where a hell of a job begins. They are saying nice things but not sure if he is the guy for the job given the situation. He will walk the Shannyplank one day soon imo.
Reality check! Nylander is NOT a 9.5 million playe, 8 is more like it. The inflation of player salaries in Toronto is truly amazing, and not in a good way.
Yeah, how about you make boss move and trade Marner and Tavares exchange for some grit,toughness,ACTUAL SUCCESS and hart- guys. Like Florida has with Bennett, Gudas, Staal and Verhaeghe. None of those is big name(Eric Staal used to be big name) but they play big and has playoff gualities in them.
A lot of players go to the Leafs, retool their careers, ask for more money and guess what? We can't afford them anymore…Samsonov is coming on his final payoff, he's not taking a pay cut…
