Where do the Flames finish in the standings next year?
Calling it now. Flames are gonna make it to the playoffs the next two years, only to get bounced in the first and second rounds. after that they will fall off the face of the earth and be forced to rebuild like they should have. as a flames fan i am more excited for the rebuild tbh.
I think the Flames make the playoffs (and possibly even win the Pacific Divinsion) because without Mister Stuck-In-The-Past as head coach, the best goalie in Calgary next season won't spend the entire year (less one game) on the Wranglers.
Knights fan here. I was actually worried the Flames would make the playoffs because the Knights would have had to face them in round 1 and they just seemed to have the Knights number this past season. I dont think they'll be a bad team at all.
I'm a flames and golden knights fan and I'm saying this year is vegas' year but next year the flames are going to try to bring that cup back to Canada may not happen but that will be the mindset
Hopefully the flames can solve their OT lose and 1 goal loss situation…. last season was awful for it.
Calgary based Leafs fan here. I want the Flames to do well, and I think they’ll be good next season. Just not a juggernaut
Just can’t believe this will have any impact. Overpaid millionaires needs to change and the whole city should boycott hockey
Juggernaut is bold, dude.
I think the Calgary Flames are going to be scary team but I don't think they're going to be a contender for the Conference Final
I'll believe it when I see it
It will depend on who wants to stay and if they can get any value for those who don't. Also goaltending needs to be settled. I'm confident they can bounce back, but by no means a lock.
I don't think you're crazy for thinking that. I expected more from the Flames last year!
i mean the flames didn't even have that bad of a year. they lost a lot of 1 goal games and still had 93 points. i think with a coaching staff that will let that offence go a little bit, the flames can be a 100 point team next season. will that happen? maybe, maybe not. but the potential is there and i think you're foolish if you count them out. i'm not even a Flames fan i'm a Leafs fan.
Calgary Copium crop musta been good this year 😂
Could be worse, could've hired Theo Fleury
It'll be fun to see what Connie does with all of those upcoming UFA's.
Flames could gain some great assets in blockbuster deals
It's promoting not recycling when the do it from within the company.
Will he be the next Jon Cooper, or will he be Glen Gulutzan without the nice hair? Stay tuned and find out.
Will miss the playoffs again. Hooberdoh is done. Loui erikson style
I think they will be awesome, if they won half their overtime games, they would have been in the playoffs with Sutter as a coach lol 😂 imagine huska coaching this team? He's gonna do the opposite of Sutter and the players will respect him
I completely agree with you, and the flames always do the best when their underdogs as well
They won’t do much
They're like vegas last year, hopefully they get the same results as them next year.
They will be better, but probably still not playoff contenders unless they can change things around in one summer.
The reason their doing this is because why not? It worked for the avs who got bednar and even though the leafs are a fire, they’re less of one than they were before dubas. You’re gunna see a lot more AHL and CHL coaches get a look in the next few years
Calgary is gonna at least bump out the jets next season IMO.
It's nice to see that they are not taking some recycled NHL coach and actually hire internally
They barely missed playoffs with a coach the team didnt want. Give them a year or two, theyll be solid contenders for the oilers to kick out in the 2nd round.
Ryan Huska even coached Mikael Backlund when they we're in Kelowna of the WHL.
I'm excited for next season and think they'll not only be in the playoffs but actually be a hard team to beat in said playoffs.
Needed Brad Treliving to take the fall plus disgruntled players about Darryl Sutter for the franchise to make the needed changes. Team wanted the changes and got the said changes so it's now on the players.
Johnny sins as a hockey coach
Screw getting some old retread coach like Paul Marice or Bruce Cassidy they suck. Get some young new guy in there like Brad Larson. He was great!!!
The Flames have the pieces they've just never used it properly, two internal guys who have experience with our AHL talent, like Phillips and Wolf, is a good thing. We have to get some of our young talent out of the AHL or we'll loose them
I'm a Kings fan and I'm glad to see the Flames moved on from Sutter. Although his pressers were hysterical.
tbh, I’ve always believed in Huska. This is a great hire and can’t wait to see what the future awaits
I don’t think even Calgary knows what happened last season. Maybe just losing two of their stars was a shock but they got two good pieces in return. Huberduea didn’t show up and the team just looked lost in a sense of direction and motivation. I think it was just one of those weird funky seasons and genuinely shouldn’t be worried. This is a good move and I garuntee they’ll be back in the playoffs this upcoming season. I see another brutal battle for Alberta coming
While talking about young players getting space you forgot to mention Ružička. He was insanely good last year yet Sutter never gave him the space that he more than deserved.
Ayo is the weeknd getting the senators???
spin the tires more.
This team might as well start their rebuild now. Goaltending is still an issue and many will not sign. You don't replace established players in trades.
