    think the buyout is gunna hurt in the long run. not worth the short term goal. would rather spend the assets to grease the trade and then recoup at deadline if its another failed season. Hopefully they impress at the draft

    You 100 percent don’t qualify him. You have him in a weak position. Why pay him 2.2 million to play half a season and then become a UFA. You make him give up 1 UFA year at 2 mill per year. Means he’s going to get 4 million or you let him walk and most likely nobody offers him a contract and he plays in Europe next year.

    This is a player Carolina couldn’t give away and now he’s hurt until December he would be stupid to try and go to UFA this summer injured and the Canucks would be stupid to pay hi to sit out until December and then let go audition for a raise from another team next offseason
