Can't believe all these guys that work in the hockey world think they should re-sign Matthews. Mark my words. YOU WILL NEVER SEE A CUP IN TORONTO WITH MATTHEWS ON THIS TEAM. I mean sure you could keep him and if we have another 25 mil in cap space bring in some real men with balls that won't let little shts like ta chuk stop them from getting to the front of the net. But that's not going to happen. Bettman is NOT going to help the leafs with the salary cap. Look how much it has gone up since matthews and marner has been here..what..1 mil…maybe 2. Trade Matthews to Pittsburgh and suddenly Bettman will let the cap go up 15 mil a year…So leafs have to get players that aren't afraid of their own shadows with the cap room we have. And with Matthews we are just wasting money and the cap space.

Leafs Leafs Leafs hahaha. Fans and media are upset Trevling has not made any moves, it takes time. They need a dance partner and perhaps these last 3 years of playoff failures has other GMs saying why would I pay 11 million for a Marner who is a perimeter player as an example. No one is trading for Tavares so that leaves Nylander because no team is willing to pay Matthews to be the highest paid player in NHL. Matthews does not want 8 years at say 12.7 or 13. He wants 3 to 5 years at minimum 14 million a,year so he can sign another free agent deal at age 29 or 30. He is all about the bling

Contrary to most people why is not Matthews a tradeable asset? He has not been a gamebreaker to likes of Stamkos, Mackinnon, McDavid, Draisatal yet where expecting him to command a 15 million dollar contract. Would your not entertain and Elias Lindholm, Rasmus Anderson, a prospect and 1st round pick? You would still have another 2 million of cap space
Is mathews worth more than Mackinnon or mcdavid … I'd trade him for either…. just saying.

Laghs first round wasn't great. Laughs have no fight in the playoffs. They're too soft. Playoffs for the last 10-12 years have proven that might makes right. Boston in 2011 vs Vancouver? Boston bullied the skilled lines of Vancouver. Yes Van had guys like Burrows, Kesler, Torres, but they're whole thing is skill first. Skill wins the President's Trophy. Toughness wins the Stanley Cup. Which one do you want?
If the Leafs trade Nylander then the Leafs don't make the playoffs next season!
