  1. Karlsson wasn't 100% healthy and him and burns playing together was a failure. Both thrived once separated.

  2. It's unrealistic for teams who have big contracts with star players, like Karlsson, to be moved rn unless they're willing to retain his cap to at least 6 – 7 million which i doubt they'll want such huge dead cap for 4 years.

The flat cap is gonna stay for another season and teams that do have the space are, at best, wildcards. When the cap goes up by at least 7 or 8 next year, then Sharks can talk about moving Karlsson. Until then, he'll just have to stay put.

  3. Craig Button: "DNA of managers…" What a Goof. This guy traded Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Put Martin St. Louis on waivers, and traded Marc Savard for a player that never played a game in the show. Bold. TSN analysis now.

  4. 4 and a half minutes of Button saying cliché platitudes. Almost a talent to not share a single genuine idea or thought.

  5. "I don't see any risk in acquiring Erik Karlsson" – And this is why Button hasn't worked in the NHL for nearly two decades. This is the first Karlsson has looked remotely like his old self. At 11M, in what universe is there no risk acquiring him? Even with some retention (San Jose has refused to hold more than 20%), that's still a lot, especially when you then have to factor in the cost of getting him. Do I think he's worth it? Probably. But between his injury history and cost to acquire, it's downright stupid to say he doesn't come with some risk.

  6. Button is such a joke lol he really shows why he was a terrible gm in 90% of his analysis. Karlsson is such a risky add, with an anchor of a contract that San Jose would need to retain 50% on just to get a decent return. Funny how one season negates several seasons of struggle. If his injury flares up he's an ineffective defenseman. He's always been more of a 4th forward out there and now he can't skate like he used to. His value is minimal I can't even see him getting close to a contender until the cap goes up.

  7. One rather large problem is his contract and it’s not necessarily easy for contenders to fit him

  8. So every playoff team except the leafs cause we all know they aint winning nothing
