As long as Pettersson is signed long term before he reaches UFA status, that’s good enough. His next contract should be long term or they move him for maximum return. I’m not tied to players like I was as a kid. I really like him as a player, but he scored 100+ points last season and the Canucks didn’t even make the playoffs. All I care about is team success.

Martin Jones should be signed as the backup; hometown, Westcoast career boy, played for $2 Mill last season; should be able to get him for at most that, if not less, for a 2 year deal. Best UFA G available, and would be a perfect player to feel confident on spelling Demko for enough games that they don't wear Demko out (or worse, overplay him into another injury). DONE – DO IT – then it's Boeser or Myers out, to fit everything under the CAP. VOILA! Easier done than said!
