    Is Elias important to the Canucks?
    Cuz William Nylander is $10mill.
    Why would Elias play on a non playoff team and carry the load and even consider $10mill?
    You wanna keep him. $11+ like any other team would offer and pay compensation to get him. I wouldn't be surprised if he waits it out and signs an offer sheet someplace else. But he risks the Canucks matching it. I'm sure the Blackhawks have $12mill after next season and expiring contracts and increased cap to sign Elias to play with Bedard. All the Canucks are doing by offering $10mill is insulting him and showing him he isn't valued as the MVP on the team. He might even sign 1 year at $10mill with the Canucks and then UFA…… Goodbye.
    The ball is totally in his court. You better offer the bank to convince him to stay more than 1 more season of missing the playoffs with no hopes of winning a cup. But, he does want to win a best on best tournament for Sweden more than a Cup, so maybe it's an advantage to missing the playoffs. I'd expect him well over Nylander money though if he is your best player.

    Teams that go 10-18 million over the cap have a great chance of winning the cup …the Leaf has their chance to do that and play it half way …too bad.

    Pettersson shouldn’t get more than high 9s. If Brayden Point is getting 9.5m per, then pettersson should not be getting much more if any more at all, given also that point is more accomplished at this stage.
