NO ! No drafts should be traded away this is not "The Way"
ok calming down I just don't know enough about Hronek because he's out east. Yes I know this is a good offensive RIGHT shot D man but my worry is his Defensive play will be no better than what we have now and thats not thing that we can let stand.

  2. Come on, seriously this freaking hurts

Not trashig on Hronek, but seriously what is wrong with the management?!?
We were righting the ship after the Horvar fiasco. Got draft pics, brought in some good players… now this??? Come on

Legitimately does now make any damn sense… i am just shaking my head on this one

Fml, there is NO WAY this guy is worth a high first pick

  3. Clay I would have to disagree this is a "huge cost" we cant keep pushing things years down the road. We need decent players NOW while petey and hughes are in their prime

  4. Just when you think the canucks were doing something good. They do what canucks do and mess the bed over and over again

  5. He has a decent amount of points with a big shot we don't have and more goals that Hughes. Sure it seems like Canucks over paid but he might just be an essential peice of the puzzle we dearly need. Good teams pick the best player for the team, not the best player available.

  6. Thank God. Alvin will be gone in 3 more years. He says one thing and does the complete opposite. He says when he was hired "We need to stockpile draft picks and get our cap under control". Less than 1 year later he is doing the complete opposite. I guess he is just another "Yes" man to the ownership.

  7. I would definitely give management a big F on this trade. Why give up their 2023 first? It doesnt make any sense.

  8. Stanley Cup winners are made from drafting. Why are we seeing it and not Management??

  9. Everyone relax…..Who did the Canucks draft 5th over all in 2016…..Ollie Juolevi…….Hronek was picked 53rd. In a capfriendly redraft Hronek rose to 11 over all. So in my mind he is a first rounder for a mid to late first rounder. The 2nd rounder was thrown in because he is a RD and under club control for only 4 million and also an RFA. This deal is fine.

  10. Don't judge until the end of the week. I don't think the Canucks are finished with trades. Be patient and let's see who else is going! This was a great trade.

  11. The trade value of a 1st and 2nd rounds is $8 million dollars…. Jesus we overpaid not to mention its the best draft year in an extremely long time! They should've waited till the summer for this! On the plus side he's a half a point per game player and will be really good with Hughes!!! I don't know you guy's about this. We'll see what the islanders pick was then I'll judge I guess but still think this is to much!!!

  12. I guess allvin didn’t like any defenders in the draft. But man this hurts, I have no idea why the Canucks are buyers at the TDL

  13. This is beyond frustrating. Why can't we ever keep our picks. And he is injured?! This is baffling like the Canucks aren't even making the playoffs and we do this…

  14. I am glad Canucks did this, now we have RD fixed Bear,Heronek,Juls,Burrs we are Ok. One in five draft picks works out. We will get second round pick in next trade.

  15. He's an offensive defenceman but he lacks size and speed, he won't be dropping the gloves, has a hard time clearing the crease of opposing forwards who are often as big or bigger than him, he's weak in one on one physical battles on the boards and doesn't like blocking shots BUT he plays clean, hits clean, doesn't take stupid penalties, he can pass cross ice or through zones with decent accuracy (good skill to send someone in on a breakaway), and he's got a good, hard shot from the blueline. He could potentially be a 50 point per season player if he gets to QB the PP on a regular basis otherwise he's not worth 2 draft picks let alone a first rounder.
He's a PP specialist, in Vancouver he's a Top 4, in Winnipeg he's more often a healthy scratch when he's not playing limited time on the 3rd pair.

  16. The Management of this team know what they're doing better than the rest of us amateur armchair commentators, the guy is injured and won't affect the tank, and I don't think the management are done with trades just yet.

  17. This trade ruined my week, lost all focus at work, mouth feels dry and just a general malaise has set in

  18. What was the hurry ?This is not black friday week. NUCKS paid much more than market value for Hronek. This team likes to walk 1 step forward 3 steps back. No other GM will offer a 1st for Hronek.

  19. He’s in the top 5% of ALL defensemen in the league plus/minus/goals etc. Excellent D. Beauvillier already better than Horvat. Chill out Canuck fans. Still lots of draft picks yet and may get more in next two days. Just chill the F out

  20. Reserving judgement until Friday. If there are moves that get us a 1st and a 2nd then I am ok with it. Also if they can somehow get Myers off the books.

  21. Another Benning type trade. Trade away the future to ensure present mediocrity

  22. same logic as tradin 9th overall pick for garland and we all know how garland turned out. in rumor mills everyday.

  23. Canucks management bunch of bone heads , why is it the the fans are brainiac and office managers are stupid

  24. From Hockey News: "But, for now, the Red Wings appear to have a concrete plan moving forward, while the Canucks don't." You think!?

  25. I'm like all these people here. I know waaayyy more about building a hockey team than Jim Rutherford and Patrick Alvin.
