  1. This team will get clapped in the playoffs because 9mil Nurse and that dcore are straight up cheeks, just like the lafs dcore

  2. I don't know when this was filmed but Campbell is easily the "true starter" after preseason. He has been unbelievable

  3. Oilers are starting to use a zone defence system this year (was mostly man to man last year)

I think Nurse is going to have a great season

  4. Ah yes the slightly overrated team in the west. This is gonna be once again McDavid and Leon carrying the team through the regular season and then getting exposed in the postseason for have no depth defense and goaltending. Top 3 team in the division. Mcdavid gets another hart trophy and then they dont make the cup finals. This team is not a cup contender im sorry there not. I will hit the over on the points but they wont make the finals. I wont say my team but my team is in the western conference and i want to face them in the postseason so we can embarrass them again

Edit: to point out the flaws in the roster, outside the top 6 who is putting the pucks in the net, who is generating offense. On defense u have ekholm and Broussard thats it. We saw in the postseason if u dont take penalties against them and make them play 5v5 they arent as successful. Not saying they are not successful outside the powerplay cause they are. Any team with mcdavid and drisiatl is successful 5v5. But if u got a defense that can somewhat keep them contained and make the depth show up and produce and you dont take penalties this team can be beat

  5. I don't think people remember just how mid this team was at the 50 ish game mark last year. They were with Calgary in the standings for most of the season before they got hot the final 2 months. They will be fun to watch but I don't think they are that much better than last year if at all. Desharnais still has a job on this team. They aren't going anywhere in the playoffs again.

  6. Nurse played with a torn hip flexor, as someone who tore their own hip flexornidk how he could even skate, it is near impossible to get any drive out of ur hips which is like 90% of skating. He will bounce back. People forget that b4 ekholm he had to consistently play against a top forward line, now with ekholm a lot of pressure gets taken off of him

  7. The Dcore is better than your making it sound. It’s still not great but it’s better than league average. Darnell nurse didn’t seem great because he was playing 27 minutes a night, but now they have ekholm so it should take some weight off his shoulders

  8. Not saying goaltending isn’t a concern, but if we’re talking about skinner’s playoff numbers, it’s probably fair to note Hellebuyck, Oettinger, and Bob all we’re under 900 against Vegas as well. They were shredding goalies apart.

  9. Disagree with the D core. Ekholm is a top 30 D. Nurse is a top 30 D. Maybe adding a tpp 4 D would be huge. But lots of teams dont have that

  10. I'd strongly argue that the 2023 Knights were worse than the 2022 Avs and the fact they went out to Vegas, made me feel the Oilers regressed

Out in round 1 to the Kings this year

Truly feel that's the way it's gonna shake down

  11. Campbell was good at the end of the season, especially his limited playoff time. Oilers should have started him in the playoffs

  12. Skinner's regular season was better than Campbell's, and this is an appropriate comparison (because the sample size is comparable and significant). But the playoff sample size for Stew is small, so to compare his playoff performance to Campbell's regular season is not meaningful. The guy on the right doesn't understand how to use stats in a debate.

  13. I know y'all do 32 of these so you can't know every single thing about every single team and have to go off what Daily Faceoff says but those are definitely not our d-pairings coming into this season. It's Nurse-Bouchard, Ekholm-Broberg, Kulak-Ceci, with Desharnais as the extra. If Ekholm isn't good to start the season they can use Broberg-Desharnais. All of the pairings have been tried out during pre-season and they've all looked good. In general the defensive stats for the team since Woody took over have been around the middle of the pack. They definitely need to improve that, and they will, but the d-core is fine, it's good. It's not a terrible group of defensemen.

  14. Can someone please point me to where it shows that Nurse was terrible last season? Played 82 games, we'll completely ignore that he was playing with an injury most of the season as was his partner. He had 43 points, with 1 of those points coming on the PP as he doesn't get PP time. He was +26 with 4 GWG and averaged 23.5 mins per game. He played the 9th most minutes of all defensemen in the league at 5 on 5, while of those top 9 he started in his zone the 3rd most, and in the offensive zone the 2nd least. Of those top 9, he had the 2nd most hits, he did have the 2nd most giveaways and was mid of the pack on takeaways and with all that, 5 on 5 with those top 9, he was middle of the pack for corsi and Fenwick. If that's a brutal defenseman, than dang. He's #1 on the majority of teams in the NHL.

  15. Controversial opinion but I think the Oilers will actually win the cup this year.

  16. i think, you are wrong on the D-men.
    That's a really good D-core.
That said, i am a homer and it stands to see, if Ekholm will recover fully from his hip flexer issues he's got right now.
But they do have some good guys in the minors, they can call up.
