All of this super hype is for naught if Matthews cannot carry the Leafs past the first round of the playoffs. If he cannot, then this is just about Matthews and not the team. Thus far (57 years in a row as of 2024) the Leafs have never even been in a Cup final, let alone actually winning the Stanley Cup. His regular season results are superlative. Post season results, abysmal.
