    Even with the best player in the world you can’t win when the rest of the team is horrible. And when mcdavid is back, teams will be able to limit him they’ll be just a decent team at most.

    How in the world can the Oilers be so bad ? Draisatl will have to compensate for McDavid absence, but he’s already nearly 2 pts per game ? Hyman and Nuge are also 1 pts per game +

    Evander Kane looks to be back to his old form, the bottom 6 scored a total of 0 points so far, the defense and goaltending are inexistent. The horrible timing for McDavid injury might cost the Oilers a playoff spot this early in the season … in the weakest division !

    Keep in mind at the halfway point of last season the oilers werent even in a wildcard spot, i still think theyre overrated but just saying this isn't the first time they've had a terrible start.

    "The Oilers have started the season 1-4-1, pretty much the worst start you could ever imagine."

    As a fan of an 0-5-1 team (who is admittedly happy the team has such a bad record because I'm all in on Slackin' for Macklin), I could imagine a worse start than 1-4-1.

    ETA: I know the part about McJesus being injured was part of that sentence about the start, I just heard that part of the sentence and thought it was funny as a Sharks fan.

    We're ~8% of the way through the season and the Hawks have more points than we do. Admittedly they played one more game than we have and it's only a single point but I think the point stands, the way things are going after the oilers next game we're still going to be behind them

    I know 8% is not a lot of the season but it adds up fast and unless something changes in the next handful of games I don't see the oilers have enough points to get into the playoffs

    They need more first rounders, everything will be fine. Jokes aside I can see why they get so much hate these days.
    As self proclaimed ''wE aRe gOnNa pUshiNg for Da cuP'' team – yeah get fucked. That's Karma.

    The only guy I like on their roster is Draisaitl – obvs. playing for the wrong team.

    Bouchard has played his entire career for Edmonton and this year goal differential stats mean nothing at this point, he had a +16 goal differential the last 2 seasons and Bouchard is a top producer in crucial situations. Truth is majority of people don’t even know what the oilers need and that’s why they’re in this current situation. They have always been making the wrong cuts and trades

    Edmonton is a middling team with a couple of superstars on it. It wasn't built to win, and no honest analysis would suggest they had a real chance barring McDavid and Draisital getting super hot at the right time.

    Team defence and especially their actual defence, aka Bouchard, Ceci and Nurse suck. Nurse’s contract is going to be an anchor around the Oiler’s neck for years to come. Trade him for an actual defenceman asap.

    I gotta say the Canes have been problematic to start and I’m a canes fan . Svechnikov is hurt, I know. But so far defense has been mixed/subpar with Orlov still adjusting and TDA being a nonfactor. Now you have Pesce banged up and it looks pretty rough . I’m not panicking as I know they can turn it around but still, it’s unacceptable to lose to teams they’re gravely favored to win. I don’t mind having decent goalies but they’re injury prone. Kochetkov is a mixed bag. But I gotta say seeing the Oilers makes me feel a tad better

    The team is not lacking in skill the problem I think is the defence and goaltending. They need to fire Dave Mansion and Dustin Schwartz. The PK defending has been good and that I believe is Glen Gully’s section but the 5 on 5 defending is awful and some night the goaltending is bad.
