Media blows everything out of proportion. Pressure tactics don't work. Petey will sign when he is ready.
Petey better be careful or he's going to get traded to the highest bidder and it wont be a contender. Canucks can leverage the crap out of this situation if they play their cards right.
some swedish players are a little thin skinned. OEL for example. pettersson has been getting some shade about how he's holding vancouver at arms length and maybe he has hurt feelings right now because of some of the posts. if he's still holding out by the draft, get rid of him. we could get a king's ransom for him.
He's waiting to see how they're going to do in the playoffs before he commits to anything long term.
I would not doubt that when they finally sit down at the table that a deal would get done fairly quick.Kind of funny that Miller and Boesers contracts seem a bargain this year.
I hope Petterson wants to leave, I don’t like the Canucks
Perhaps they need to get millers approval to not up show him?
Petey just wants to focus on hockey because that just seems to be the type of player he is: someone's who locked in within the moment itself and doesn't want to dwell on matters until he absolutely needs to. Many people are just like that, and I think Petey has shown that based on how late he signed the last deal. I think it's a big part of one's mental conditioning at a high level to clear your mind of unnecessary things, and that really seems to be what he is doing right now.
Is petey pissy again?
Relax people, Pettersson isn't going anywhere. It's his childhood dream to be a Canuck. The twins were his idols and are now part of his coaching staff. He wants to win – and they're finally getting results this season. Management has given him the support he needs and bolstered this team into a real contender. Why would he leave now?
Elias also stated, quite clearly, he didn't want negotiations to distract him during the season. Unusual? Sure. But the guy is more cerebral than most and is simply just betting on himself. Perhaps he therefore only signs a short term (3yr) contract? Which gives the team some extra cap space while also providing himself continued motivation (ie. he feels he can be even better, whoa). But win win, right?
Regardless, he's gonna get paid. The recent past suggests Pettersson wants to remain a Canuck. He's simply playing his cards close to his chest right now.
Even if Petey leaves, Canucks would get a BIG return since he's an RFA.
Why would he sign an extension right now? He’s an RFA and on a historic season.
What if he wins the Art Ross, or the Conn Smythe? Any agent that says sign now should be fired for negligence.
If there is anyone I'm not worried getting to keep long term it's Petey! He is going to stay. But the media definitely could oush him away. I'm more worried about Filip Hronek. Boeser when his contract is over. Also our depth players.
He's gonna get paid as much money as he wants, if vancouver sends a huge number to Petey right now he'll probably sign it but if they don't and want to keep "negotiating" they will probably pay more this summer. Similar to Nylander, Toronto probably could have signed him in the summer or early in the season for 11. They didn't offer that at that time and now he's signed for 11.5.
Leave it alone ffs
Yes trade him to Buffalo, he will have lots of time to work on his brand
Walk away. Be bigger than this garbage.
petey can get as much as he wants, which is understandable but i hope he doesn't pull a nylander and go for the most available like all the maple leafs, those guys are just out for themselves, if a couple of them had taken even a bit less the toronto team could be way better. if peterson wants to win, he will take a team friendly contract that is fair to him and the team will be better, something like sydney crosby did with his 8.7 million contract. but if he goes for as much as possilble that's his right and he's good enough to deserve it. i just hope and pray he actually wants to win and not just get a payday
He wants to much money, he just thinks about him self.
This controversy is completely made up by the media, relax guys, These people are professionals, let management take care of it. They are very good at it (as we have seen)
Clearly said he is not signing until the season is done so stfu all media
Historically a dog 💩organization, he may not want to lock in if this is an aberrant season. He’ll get $ whatever he does so what’s the rush?
Why should Petey rush? Didn’t Vancouver make him wait the last time?
