  1. The Gretzky Oilers didn’t care if the opposing team scores 5 goals on them, because they would just score 8 goals, big difference in offensive skill and goaltending.

  2. This was Edmontons problem they weren’t patient with their play and tried to force a lot of plays. Since Knobs arrived he’s got them playing a more patient game.

  3. The ironic thing is the leafs really don’t need to play this way too generate offense. Most teams who manage offense collectively don’t have the best offensively skilled players, but I think Toronto lives and dies by this up and down style of play.

  4. Just SELL the TEAM Toronto deserves BETTER this TEAM hasn’t won the the Stanley cup in 50+ YEARS get rid of them they are an embarrassment to Toronto and Canada SELL SELL SELL.

  5. Take a video about this , The world is now ruled by one community of people, the world Satanic elite, you can also call them the committee to meet the Antichrist and prevent the 2nd coming of Jesus, Trump called them the deep state, at the moment it consists of about 10,000 people, the main ones there are Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Windsors, Baruchs, they, their ancestors, descendants and other people who enter there have the mark of Lucifer, which, if they bring the antichrist and do not allow the 2nd coming, they will receive eternal life after the x hour, and the rest of humanity, for all the time that they have lived, they won't get anything, so all people should know about the existence of a world government (Jesus who was a The Prophet of God, not God.God will send Jesus as a reward to humanity, if humanity deserves it, for this it is necessary to fight Lucifer and his elite)

  6. You’re so far from where you want to be.
The leafs are one of 32 teams. If you can’t get to that line of thinking you will never succeed at what you’re trying to do.

  7. It was all Justin Holl's fault and they are so much better now remember? I remember everyone saying that. I remember tons and tons of Leafs fans saying all they needed to do is get rid of Holl. But lets see what Justin Holl did well. He had the majority of his starts in the defensive zone. Where are they having trouble, the defensive zone. What was Holl good at. Retrieving the puck and getting it to the forwards. What can't they do, get the puck and get it to the forwards. I never said Holl was an all star. What I said was that if you want to get rid of Holl it has to be an upgrade. You all said I was crazy. Now all the things Holl did that kept him in the top of the line-up we can't do. You guys got your wish. Great job GM. This is what happens when you let fans GM a hockey team.

  8. Keefe will be fired before or at the end of this season, especially if they go out early or don't make the playoffs. The Leafs can't play defense and while Jones has been okay as their current goalie,he is an emergency measure, and wasn't even supposed to be in the NHL this year.Matthews could get 70 hoals this year but that won't matter if Toronto can't play defense.

  9. I think Dubas sold this teams soul in hopes of one last chance at winning a cup before leaving for Pittsburgh. Now that hes gone, Toronto's on the hook for the bill. I dont think a rebuild is in order, but definitely a shakeup/restoration.

  10. Think of how fortunate they are that none of Nylander, Matthews, Marner, Tavares or Reilly have missed any significant games to injury. They only have THREE players with more than 13 goals…only 5 with 10 or more. There’s zero secondary scoring, and the later it gets into the season, the more fatigued they’ll get. Once the playoffs come around, unless that top line gets split up, they’re screwed. The opposing team will just smother the top line with their 2nd and 3rd line checkers and it’ll be game, set & match.

  11. The Leafs plan is to outscore the opposition. If they manage to win the cup with this philosophy then they may be the first ever. The Lightning tried it and got swept in the first round by Columbus. The Leafs are not playing playoff calibre hockey. I expect an early exit. In addition, they aren't winning many games in regulation. This reminds me of the Panthers winning the President's trophy while winning a lot of their games in O/T and shootouts. That resulted in a first round sweep as well. Obviously, with the offensive talent the Leafs have, they will dominate in 3 on 3 overtime but that goes away in the playoffs. In the end every opponent playing Toronto in the playoffs, if there even is one or if there is even more than one, will concentrate on shutting down Matthews, AGAIN, and Leafs lose, AGAIN.

  12. That stat chart raises questions. They're upper middle on offense. So my question is, who is top three, and how do they defend and support leads? I'm guessing a lot better.

  13. As a non Leafs fan beating a not so good Flames team doesn't make me think oh they'll be fine. Really Leafs fans I'm sorry but the 2nd round is the deepest playoff run they'll make with this system. The 80's Oilers could play this style not these guys. They have some really nice players on offense & defense they are going nowhere.

  14. Can you do an analysis on the lightnings decline in defensive structure this year?

  15. Your still saying Come April be competitive. I just looking will they even be playing. They on the verge of blowing it. I'd consider replacing Keefe only for that reason and while there is time to get a new coach and a new system that might save this season

  16. They are terrible.. I'm not a Leaf hater saying that – Just a realist. It's going to take a lot more change and will likely need to address it in the offseason. Can't defend and the worst O zone possession in the league. This is the most accurate assessment of what's wrong with them I've seen anywhere. They can't handle heavy teams pressuring down low offensively and turn the puck over way too much with weak D coverage – Same problems they have had forever now – Not close to being cup contenders still

  17. Die hard leaf fan since 1985. I rarely missed watching or listening to a game until last year and now this year i barely pay attention. I don’t care. The core is great, Matthews is sick to watch but they are unwatchable as a team, to be fair hockey in general is unwatchable. No rivalries, no heat, just teams skating and playjng the same way. No characters, no real home ice advantage. It feels like exhibition hockey for most of the season. As for theLeafs, it boggles my mind Keefe is still here……and why fans are seemingly ok with that. Going to go watch some mike Bossy highlights now. Cheers!

  18. So I recently heard on the "Kyper and Bourne" show that Toronto ranks 32nd in the league in "offensive zone time". Could that be the problem?

  19. Live by the sword, you die by the sword.
    That's the Leafs.
Total offense is why they'll never EVER win a cup until they geta system like the Flyers have.
Shot blockers sacrificing for the team and stellar goal tending.
    Which the Flyers have both.
Score all you like, but defense wins cups.
Flyers made a huge change and they are built for the playoffs.
    They finally learned their lesson.
Leafs will be 1 and done in the playoffs.
    Again.

  20. Your uncle and all of Canada
Did you see the crowd in that game
Might as well be a home game

  21. Should have traded Nylander to get some cap space and balance out the team, and to send a message to the rest of the team.

  22. Regardless of the analysis being done by "enter name here" – and yours was spot on – the Leafs have been running this system for years and it hasn't worked – ever. That's
the bottom line. Tavares is getting slower, so is Reily, so is Brodie – The system they try to use didn't work when these player's legs were fresher and it's only getting worse – whats the common denominator? A flawed system that has become less and less valuable in the regular season , and an outright disaster in the playoffs. Year after year after year. The Leaf organization brain trust keeps spit balling the same tactics against the rest of the NHL – who can't quite fathom the hubris of the boys in blue – or the core four's fancy paycheques, for that matter. It will be quite something if a hungrier Red wings or Lightning team supplants the Leafs for a playoff spot – leaving the Leafs with a top of league goal scorer and no playoffs to show for it.

  23. Leafs will continue to stink until Matthews finally realizes his worm-like mustache is absolutely atrocious.

  24. Your videos are excellent man. I'm so used to casual commentary in the hockey commentary niche on youtube, that it's really refreshing to get breakdowns that are way more tactical and technical like yours.

  25. great matthews is great but they dont have a team. They have a few individuals and no defense or goaltending

  26. The leafs suck and will blow it in the playoffs like they always do …cant wait to see it happen again and again and again….. maybe someone needs to disappear on a fishing trip and be found years later cuz that the only way they will win the cup

  27. The leafs aren't even that good. They're in the limelight because of the badge and the star-power. They're 7 pts ahead of Arizona who are 23rd.

  28. I admit Leafs have some fire power up front, but……Just how in the hell do the team builders for the Leafs expect to compete for a Stanley Cup with mediocre goaltending and a weak defense corp year after year after year. Is it really that hard to find a goalie? Christ the Bruins lost Rask and already have 2 Vezina contenders, One they drafted (Swayman) and one they signed as a FA (Ullmark). Look the B's still have their ups and downs but they are in the mix every year as a top team because of goaltending and a very stout defense. Will Leafs execs ever figure this out?

  29. Nothing matters until they do something in the playoffs. Except losses of course. I freaking hate losses.

  30. It's amusing how you use Winnipeg jets footage to demonstrate how a good defensive team operates.

The jets could give the leafs a good lesson on the definition of the word "bargain", and it's impact on the actual makeup of a team. Oh wait it's too late for that

    Great Video.
