  1. Winnipeg is a great team as a whole, nice offense and decent defense. The thing is that they did so good in the regular season but choked really hard this first round. Like this person said, I did expect Winnipeg to get eliminated but not this way.

  2. I'm not surprised at all. The Avs are a dangerous playoff team. I doubt if they make it out of the West but it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

  3. Sure the Jets weren't completely at the level they should've been, but it was honestly just how well Colorado played that made this happen. I'm from Winnipeg, so I'm sad, but my second favourite team are the Avs so I'm not completely devastated. At least we might have something good to look forward to next year with how this years regular season went.

  4. The Jets are lucky it even went 5 games. If Georgiev even resembles a goalie in that first game the Avalanche win in 4.

  5. Oh great the Avs or a Florida teams gonna win the cup again…american washed league pro sports is a joke..owner with the most money wins you buy championships…great example the lakers in basketball dynasty was paid for

  6. As a Jets fan, i can't imagine this team going far into the playoffs in the next few years, i think it'd be a good idea to do some major changes, especially the defensive core and the coach, it's so depressing being a jets fan, also Hellebuyck was in fact, swiss cheese

  7. Colorado buncha mountain rednecks and the most spoiled hockey fanbase in last 30 years with big money owners ..had the two best players in the 90s in sakic and forseberg, multiple cups…buncha spoiled mountain rednecks

  8. The cup winning teams for the past 10 years or so have had a couple of things in common. They have skill and speed but they are physically punishing and they play a two way game. I felt Colorado had far too many easy entries with forwards almost getting to the hash marks on most rushes uncontested. That's hard on a goalie. I'm not too familiar with Jets hockey and Hellabuyck but if he was in the Vezina conversation and recently got paid, I think the coaching staff needs to help him more in big moments like this. There's a few series out there where some goalies are making insane stops albeit not on every play like its the dead puck era, but consistently enough to be giving their team a chance.

Someone posted after game 1 about how it must feel to score 6 on Hella and still lose. Well good teams find ways to adjust and limit your scoring. Winnipeg wasn't able to do the same and they were basically schooled the rest of the series.

  9. Well at least you gave a mention to the Jets in the playoffs… Media coverage on this team has to be the worst in the league.

  10. Couple things: the whiteout crowd mocking Georgiev at the end of game 1 woke up the sleeping giant and they took it personally. Can’t be giving teams that kind of bulletin board material at the beginning of a series. Secondly, Winnipeg is just way too slow to keep up with the avs’ uptempo attack. They need to get multiple massive upgrades on the backend to compete with the rest of the west

  11. Jets' fan here. I liked this video. Liked your perspective on the Series. Thanks. I wish that we had gone further but, I have to say, if Colorado can keep up with this level of play that they tapped into, they might very well be in the Stanley Cup finals. Good luck to them! 😀

  12. Winnipeg doesn't need to change anything on the team, just get their fans to not chant "pull your goalie" in the first game! Seemed to energize the Avs

  13. As a Jets fan who was at all three of the home games, the whole thing comes down to something pretty simple for me. The Jets and Avs play two very different styles of hockey; Winnipeg has a tight, defensive make-you-pay-for-your-mistakes game that was the reason we allowed the fewest goals in the regular season. Colorado plays the track meet; they know they don't have an elite goalie, but they do have elite scoring (2 or even 3 of the top 5 in the sport, depending on who you ask), so they play fast, loose, and aggressive.

All five games of this series, the Avs forced the Jets to play their style of hockey, and frankly, the Avs are just better at it. The Jets got sloppy trying to play like the Avs do because it's not what they were built on. It's a miracle the Jets won even one game playing that way.

I remember hearing on the radio that one of the Avs (McKinnon?) said after Game 1 or 2 they were going to be happy to win 2-1 because the Jets were so good defensively. The Avs were never going to win any games 2-1. Any tight, low-scoring games this series would have gone to Winnipeg, but there weren't any.

The series was 4-1, but in terms of who got to decide the pace of play, the Avs won 5-0

  14. It actually felt very similar to the Flames vs the Oilers in the second round a few seasons ago. Flames got the hot start, but then the goalie that should have been money in Markstrom failed to dial it in and let doubt creep into the team by the end of the game (even though it was a win), and then that doubt snowballed for the rest of the series. When you spend on an elite goalie, they need to show up if you're going to keep the team rolling properly.

  15. The Jets are turning into the Leafs. Good in the regular season and crap in the playoffs. Didn't surprise me one bit that Colorado took them out in five.

  16. If goal was to slide in and lose we shouldn't have given 1st/2nd/3rds away for Toffoli,Monahan,Miller who had little impact.

Jets need to make moves this offseason enough
Get a solid #1b center and #2 dman play with Morrisey.
Even if you have to trade a core guy like Ehlers/Connor to make it happen start pushing Lambert,Chibrikov,Lucius,Heinola,Salmonsson in roles next year after NCAA Mcgroarty will play.
Expect us take steps back with Brossoit,Dillon,Demelo,Toffoli,Monahan, Miller being UFA

  17. As a Wild fan, I can relate to getting stuck in the first round of the playoffs.
