Mess I think was a pretty standup guy for doing that interview. Aside from being a disaster for the Oilers, it was one of his worst games, his first period goal notwithstanding
I knew that Mario Lessard was a good goaltender when a fan of the Kings farm team in 1977-78 at Springfield Mass. where he made spectacular saves. He was a flamboyant goalie.
Ironically, Wayne Gretzky got traded from Edmonton Oilers to L A Kings in 1988. Oh, yeah! I remember those good old day. This game remind me of Olympic at Salt Lake in 1980. US against CCCP or Soviet Union. Miracle do happen.
After this game a Kings intern, he was in his early 20's, basically a kid, was so happy and he yelled. The Oilers won the next game in LA, and that asshole sather went up to that intern and said you're not yelling now, are you? A LA reporter named Joe McDonnell, came to the kid's defense and told sather to go f*ck himself!
i love the 1980's game ,… it looks a lot like roller hockey ,..almost like today's 3 on 3 ot games ,..the ice is big,..the players seem small and way less padded up , they chase the puck all night with not a lot of strategy ,..this is wide open hockey 80's style
No miracle on Manchester last night when the Oilers won Game 3 in LA 8-2. Not trying to sound like a whiner but sadly gone on the days when a Canadian team will ever win another Stanley. Too many American teams in the league. It's a numbers game folks. We may get to the dance but won't go home with the date.
The following year those Edmonton Oilers would reach the Stanley Cup Finals only to encounter another major setback. A 4 game sweep by the New York Islanders.
I was there that night sitting in the nosebleed section. A lot of fans had already left after the 2nd period with the score 5-0. That's what L.A. fans do when they figure the game has already been decided. I had no plans after the game so I stayed and got to see it all. When Evans scored the winner in OT off of the face off my seat was in a direct line behind him from where the he took the shot. I got to watch from behind as it left his stick and went into the net like a laser beam. I kept the ticket stub but have since moved 6 times and it eventually got lost in the shuffle. Sure wish I had still had it.

my left ear…
The King's owner left the building before the start of the third period.
The fans stayed til the end.

Even with a team with the likes of Gretzky and Messier, the Oilers still sucked!
And The Kings won the series ! 😎 🏒 miracle.

The kings had hardcore hockey fans in the LA area in the pre Gretzky 1967-1988 eras
Unbelievable game, the Oilers took the Kings too lightly for the series
Mark freaking Hardy played the game of his life in this one.
Weird seeing the Kings in different colors

Anyone else here after blowing a 4-1 lead in the third to Winnipeg in game 3?
I'm from Toronto and I remember going to bed with the Oilers having a 5-0 lead.
I was 10 at the time. I couldn't believe it when I heard they lost.
Mario Lessard threw his stick at Messier OT ,..shoulda been a penalty shot

The King's line of Dionne Simmer Taylor was terrifying. I don't understand why the Oilers would take them lightly
I liked it when the Kings wore purple 💜 and gold 🪙
Oilers were too cocky..thought themselves invincible..kings proved them wrong
