  1. The Oilers are not the bookies. They know this is not a cakewalk. The Oilers and some fans know that the Canucks are real.

  2. As an Oiler’s fan I am cautiously optimistic. The Canucks are a good team,I think the Oilers are better, but you still have to play it out and see what happens. I think it will be a good series. My prediction is Oilers in six. Good luck all around, cheers Canucks fans!

  3. Oilers in 6. Playoff experience, firepower, PP and for the first time in a long time legit depth.

  4. Am i living in bizarro world? I have seen nothing but praise for the canucks all season long. Maybe my algo is just canuck fan videos or something. Not saying they dont deserve it, but the only time i hear anything about the canucks its been mostly positive.

I wouldnt call the canucks an underdog on regular season merits, but in regards to playoff experience they absolutely are. Edmonton has been here in this position multiple times in the past 5 seasons. On the other hand you can easily point out that in the 4 times the oilers have been in the playoffs they have only managed to get past one more round than vancouver did in their one playoff appearance in the past 5 seasons. .

Teams getting close and losing to the eventual champions have a much bigger chip on their shoulder, so it iwll be interesting to see how edmonton attempts to excercize their demons and if they will be able to.. Doesnt really mean they are better by any stretch but that would make them the under dog imo. Definitely would enjoy to see McDavid shutdown bc i really dont see what the oilers have to offer in terms of consistently good hockey without him.

  5. Lol Oilers and their fans no this is no cakewalk and that on paper these teams are super close. Eastern hockey pundits that don't ACTUALLY watch the western conference maybe sporting this Narrative but Oilers and their fans aren't.

  6. This is such a dumbed-down analysis. Ofc we're the underdogs, and rightfully so. Are we more than a 2-1 underdog? No, not even close. Bruce needs to be more nuanced here, but it's TSN, there're trash. The Canucks right now aren't firing on all cylinders. Edm is. I'd even say they've overachieved so far in these playoffs. Momentum and timing can't be discounted. The regular season means nothing. Pettersson, Hogs, and Hronek need to show up to the party. I have no doubts about the Silovs/DeSmith tandem. In fact, I feel Silovs will outplay Skinner. PP needs to wake up. I think the refs will play a negative part in this series, and if they do, this favors Edm. In short, if nothing changes, we lose. If the full team shows up, we win.

  7. People are heavily underrating the Canucks. Coming from a religious oilers fan I'm honestly quite concerned for this series. I know the playoffs are a different beast but the fact is… we didn't beat them once this season so far, thus I'm definitely not under estimating them

  8. Come on Bruce. It sounds like you are hurting from past experiences. Of course an opponent will not lay down and die. The question is can they stand the oilers pressure all over the ice.

  9. I don't remember the last time I saw a second round team this big of a betting underdog despite having home ice advantage. You'd think game one is starting tonight in Edmonton with the way all the pundits and bookies are talking.

  10. Edmonton fans are petrified after losing all 4 games to the Canucks in the regular season

Wait for the crying after the Canucks sweep the series and go 8-0 for the year

  11. Oilers Fan here – 100% agree with this take. Canucks are scary good this year. The only people I see underestimating the Canucks are the media. The rest of us understand how good the Canucks are.

  12. Oilers are the favorite sure but the whole media landscape and the league is treating this as if Oilers are playing the Sharks.

The amount of disrespect is staggering.

  13. Finally someone with sense. Thank you Bruce!! We miss you! Go Canucks Go. Let's get that sweep!

  14. Quinn takes it personally when he’s underestimated. So as Canucks fan, Quinn, you’re not as good as people say you are. Now go out and destroy.

  15. Their own fans dont even have faith in them, Canucks fans are only wannabe fans you only like them when there winning. Where where fans last year, the year before and the year before that. All of you gave up, now as an Oiler fan thats what got us 5 stanley cups and who care if it was in the 80's we still won you know why cause were not wagon jumpers.

  16. The only ones disrespecting the Canucks as big underdogs ironically are TSN reporters. Oilers fans aren't puffing their chest out like Canuck fans are. But talk is cheap, time to play.

  17. Canucks and Oilers should both feel very proud that they made the playoffs at all.

I just think it would be funnier if Vancouver lost cause the fanbase has been so annoyingly pleased with themselves all year.

  18. I think it’s a perfect series and have always found the ‘mismatch on paper’ narrative confusing. Both teams have rock solid PK’s and while Vancouver’s PP has struggled — Edmonton was flying at 45% over five games.

Does anyone(!) think that figure is sustainable in the playoffs?

  19. The idea that Edmonton is going to walk away with this is 100% made up by the media.
It's almost like either way the story is already written. Oilers win= see we told you VS Canucks win = underdogs win.
No one in the Oilers of Canucks organization thinks it will be an easy ride.
