Are all Leafs fans this dumb? I listened to 9 minutes of your podcast and already you said 1.) Dallas outplayed Edmonton, In game six without a doubt. But the rest of the series was pretty dead even and the Oilers massively outplayed them for stretches as well. Oilers PK DOMINATED the Stars.. and yes PK is part of outplaying a team. 2.) Pickard came in and had a .905 and .914 save percentage which are more than good enough to win you a game.

Role playing is a HUUUUUGE thing that gets overlooked. Most of our guys don't care what line they're on, they'll do their job. Our defense gets constantly overlooked (except Bouchard) because they don't produce offense, yet we consistently hold opponents to single number SOG period after period after period. Our PK team has been flawless 2 straight series as well not to mention the obvious PP team.
You did forget though, that we have a top 5 starting goalie despite the fact people crap all over him any time he lets in a puck that had been deflected 17 times. His back-up isn't too shabby either.

He came out with his story right before game 6 the Headline was'' Stars have Oilers right where they want them'' even though the Oilers were 3-2 and it was literally the other way around!! But in the article he literally told Oilers fans to ''bet your house the Stars will take game 6'' and then anything could happen in game 7. Tool bag scum bag home town reporters like this is why so many players hate to play in Canadian markets. Say the Oilers will have a tough game in game 6 because you know the Stars who are facing elimination will give it all they have. Connor and Leon are good leaders. I honestly think it’s that simple. In the first covid season, back when we still had Koskinen, the reporters were trying their best to get Leon to pin a loss that they had on Mikko (for context it was basically the inverse of this game six, the Oilers vastly outplayed their opponent and Koskinen blew the game for them) and Leon WOULD NOT throw his backup goalie under the bus.
Those two go to bat for anybody and everybody on the team, no matter the role. They lead by example, they produce when it counts and they try to take the brunt of criticism from the meat.
Connor is the captain of the team, and rightfully so, but Leon would be captain on probably 25 other teams in the league (including the Leafs). That lets Nuge and Nurse slot into tertiary leadership roles where they can excel.
I think the Oilers leadership core is one of the best in the league.

2:12 I think there is a problem Toronto has that is more serious than people usually take it for.
Leafs and Oilers, yes, similar formula. But the difference is that the top guy on the Oilers remains highly effective in the playoffs because he is able to present multiple threats offensively. The triple threat of shoot, pass, or, overtake, is the best you can do in hockey, when attacking the D and the net.
The Leafs top guy, as everyone knows, just has the one threat. And that threat works in the regular season. But when defence gets tougher to penetrate, and goalies get better in playoffs, we can see that one threat become very stoppable.
From a strategic perspective, the last thing you want is for your opponent to know very well what you’re going to try to do, and then go ahead and try to do it anyway.
The attacking of Mathew’s needs to be more dynamic and varied, in my opinion. Defenders and goalies need to have to start to respect that he might do something other than shoot.

Oilers defended extremely well, limited the Stars off the rush, won the special teams battle and the big guys broke through. More depth scoring. Dallas had 0 D depth as well
