    Racing bikes are overrated, I came 8th in my state at the all schools championships riding a borrowed mountain bike, in a road race.

    Looks like the bike doesn't make any difference.
    For me it sounds like that rider itself is the reason. And the gear on the bike.
    Although I can be wrong about it.

    People are always going on about cheap bikes and expensive bikes. I will give you a quick story. I have two folding bikes.

    1–CARRERA INTERCITY COST £400.

    2–TERN VERGE X11

    COST £2500

    Which one of those bikes do you think I have ridden over 90% of the time. In the last 7 years?

    And which one do you think has saved me over £20,000 in travel expenses.?

    Yeah no prizes for guessing the X11. So the story is when you have a great bike. When its basically your ONLY form of transport (No car). You want that bike to be a Joy to ride. Fast, super efficient. A boss on steep hills etc etc.

    I used to dread riding the Carrera in the area I live in. On some of the hills my legs were so done. I would have to dismount and walk the bike up there.

    The X11 owns every hill I have ever encountered. And this is a 60 year old man talking here.

    What you are paying for when you shell out on an expensive bike is EFFICIENCY. A beautifully engineered machine made to last and get you from A to B as easily as possible.

    And save wear and tear on your body. And when you are my age that is priceless. And in turn if like me your bike is basically your ONLY transport.

    Its going to pay for itslef many times over. Im not some dude that goes on a weekend group ride. Then jumps in my car or on transport for the rest of the week. My bike is my transport..

    Just having the right gear ratios would have brought the bike up to 96% or so of the level of the 15000 euro bike.

    I dont know how i feel about this. On one had it lets me know the rider is the most important part. On the other hand that super bike cut about 40 seconds off the time which is a lot. As a fairly amateur cyclist, i love my 2011 Trek 1.1, but you dont know what you are missing or not missing if you simply dont know. My two big questions is does all road bike seats hurt (i have a gel cushion and it still hurts) and does a carbon fork really reduce the vibration that much over bumps? (Im fine over the smooth pavement).

    My bike is all Ultegra, carbon fiber, and doesn't sqeak (also has upgraded wheels and bearings). I paid $1400 in 2018. My guess is that Rory would have no trouble getting within 30 seconds of his KOM on it.

    my bicycle is rusty old and dameged but i can hit 80 mph im not lieying and im only ten! i can do it beacuse of 1 steep downhill area i know.(i suck at uphill btw and good at flat and downhill)

    The biggest thing I don’t like about this video, although I haven’t finished watching it, is calling a bike crap. It’s that kind of terminology that creates a crap culture, that manifests itself in crap YouTube videos.

    So I guess the bike doesn't really matter, as long as you are out there enjoying a nice ride the equipment really doesn't make too much of a difference. That's comforting to know lol

    Bruh the cheap one was out of tune, the brake was loud, the fork was so wiggly i saw he almost slip and the crank was so bad

    the thing about expensive bikes is that it gives you a totally different experience.. It's not only about the speed or gears. I remember when I upgraded my bike from a cheap Triban to a more expensive Cube carbon bike, I just got more into cycling. I started taking it to cross the belgian ductch borders on weekends. It made me fall in love with the sport overall.

    Should have fitted both bikes with the same gear ratios to make it a fair race. Rory probably would have won if he wasn't spinning out even on the flats.
