My Bolts have done the best they can to CONTINUE their success, in the long term. The Pens are an example of a team that has NOT done this. DESPITE bargaining away their future draft picks. This is the BEST they can do, despite the obstacles of COVID and whatnot. This guy laments the loss of Stamkos…as do ALL Lightning fans. The fact is, we COULD NOT get younger (and potentially better) by adding Guentzel AND keep an aging Stammer. We've cycled out Stammer, Killorn, Gourde, TJ, Palat…and have added Guentzel, Paul, Easymonte, Hagel, Cirelli, Point…and the rest. Making Kuch and Heddy the "old men" on the team vs a team FULL of 32+ year olds. You can either give out LEGACY CONTRACTS (like the Pens have done) or MOVE ON and try to re-build through youth. The Bolts are re-building in an amazing way, considering the position they're in.
LOL! "Steve" forgets one important thing: Do you sign (32) Stamkos for ANOTHER 4 YEARS at 8 mil/per or try to get YOUNGER with Guentzel? You clearly don't know what Stammer is NOW vs what Guentzel is NOW. 5v5 Stammer isn't a name. He's a PP specialist at this point in his career. The Lightning have become younger, over the long term and better. We'll retire Stammer's jersey and he'll be a first ballot HoF'er as a Bolt. But it's obvious the Lightning are a better team today then they were WITH Stamkos and WITHOUT Guentzel.
