There are two main teams in Tampere, Finland (Tappara and Ilves). They both share this new Nokia Arena and have seperate locker rooms. Laine has played for Tappara and now he was forced to use Ilves' locker room in his hometown. He even gave an interview (in Finnish) for podcast 'Kimanttia' hosted by former NHL defenceman Kimmo Timonen and Finnish NHL caster Antti Mäkinen stating that he absolutely despises Ilves' locker room. Rivalry is real. 😀
basically, Tampere has had 2 finnish liiga teams since the 50s, Tappara and ilves. its a big rivalry in tampere. both teams have played in the same arena since hakametsä arena was built. Laine played for tappara and won the championship with them in 2016, and the blue jackets are using ilves locker room. Tappara is like the canadiens, they have the most championships. ilves is like the leafs, they have alot of championships but the last one was in the 80s.
