  1. Wild take: the leafs are not first round exits this year. If Berube gets the idea of not choking through their heads, I could see this Leafs team losing in the conference final. Absolutely no cup though.

  2. Questionable goalie situation: Check Woll could be good but health is a concern.

Patchwork blueline: Pretty much, Tanev is a good addition but he's older and I don't know if he is more than a 5/6 at this point. OEL is rather one dimensional (but a dimension that the Leafs lack).

The forward depth is going to be a problem again this year.

  3. What do the Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?

They both look good untill they hit the ice 🫣😂

Sorry. Habs fan first, Hockey fan second. Go Habs go!

  4. This video could’ve been an email

    Hi all,

    Yes, but playoffs

    Regards,
    Leafs fans

  5. The year is 2081.
All 39 other NHL teams have won at least one Stanley Cup.
The Maple Leafs still have yet to get past the first round.

  6. The deck chairs have been shuffled again, let’s see how far the boulder rolls up the hill this time.

  7. If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, it still makes a noise for science has proven this.

However if an elite all star goal scorer dries up in the play offs, is he really all that elite in a sport where the regular season simply does not matter (Which is stupid and will never ever get this about North American sports but that's the way it is so meh).

Anyway fuck him for being a predator (And we don't mean of the Nashville variety), long may we continue to laugh at him for being a never was in the play offs.

  8. I'm still a big believer that they never should've picked up Tavares. His cap handcuffed the team's ability to make any true adjustments to the teams depth in any real way without making sacrifices. I will always defend spreading out the cap on better depth than paying a lot for more than a few "elite" talents. May work for a game like basketball, but not so much in hockey. Just my opinion!

  9. Best before date has come and gone… they muffed up their window probably in large part to getting Tavares when they could have taken that money and balanced their team. They should start making serious hockey trades get assets before they have nothing left and get bogged into a long painful rebuild as they have nothing in the pipeline. That they still have marner and tavares ( probably because of cap hits) only hastens the descent

  10. I'll copy and paste my comment from the community posts.

I think the Leafs will finish 1st or 2nd in the Atlantic Division. They may be predictable, but they made improvements. Losing Bertuzzi sucks, but the Leafs acquired Tanev and OEL for their blue line and brought Stolarz and Murray as their backup and third-string. They got back Domi and Dewar who were great in the playoffs. As much as I don't like Marner, he's getting a record high in the final year of his contract to prove himself. Acquiring Alex Nylander could bring William Nylander to new limits if he plays with him. Matthews' leadership will be different from Tavares'. Let's not forget we have Craig Berube, a new head coach who will do differently from Sheldon Keefe.

With that said, the D core is older. It's unknown if Tanev and OEL are better than Brodie and Gio. Goaltending is questionable, but they don't need an elite goaltender. Many people say the Core 4 stays the same for this season, but this isn't the same as last year because Berube will hold them accountable. Even if the Core 4 fails to make it past the 1st round, Treliving will make heavy changes in the next off-season by getting rid of Tavares and/or Marner.

When comparing the Leafs to other teams in the Atlantic, I only see the Panthers beating the Leafs for the Atlantic Division. The Bruins have Lindholm and Zadorov, but Korpi is a downgrade from Ullmark. The Senators, Sabres, and Habs will be competitive. The Lightning got worse after losing Kucherov and Stamkos, it's unknown if Vasy will return to his 2019 Prime. The Red Wings are unproven and inconsistent.

Worst case scenario, the Leafs will finish 1st or 2nd wildcard. Best case scenario, the Leafs will win the President's Trophy.

  11. This has been remarked before, but here goes again.
Toronto overpaid on the "core four" on purpose with the idea that the salary cap was due to increase within a few years. Then Covid lockouts came and salary cap increase was postponed indefinitely.

The question now is do Toronto keep paying the "core four" the same money waiting for a new salary cap increase or do they do they tell them they have to make do with 5 mile high piles of cash, not 10 mile high so that the the team depth and defense can be improved to where the team progresses beyond the 1st round in the playoffs.

  12. Until they make a big move from the core, I don't see them going much further than a 1st round exit. Patch work defense again, just like Treiliving did in Calgary, good but not good enough.

  13. The defense and goaltending are still a concern. And quite frankly,I do not believe the forward lines are tough enough to survive playoff hockey.

  14. The Leafs don't stand a chance. They are stuck with an overpaid core of just forwards, and they can't even deliver. Garbage picking every god damn season to fill in the gaps, it doesn't work.

  15. defence and goaltending improved, forward depth took a hit

treliving has said multiple times that they’re not done tinkering, but it’s hard to say how much can be done – as a TOR fan, i have more faith in this team going into the season than i did last year

cowan will likely push for a spot as it stands

  16. You could do a second Leaf video, but on the Front Office Staff with 4 columns – moron, moron, moron and DumbA@@

  17. They are going to become a dump and chase team. I can see it now, Marner going in as F1 to separate the puck from the defender. Berube will make a man out of him

  18. They will finish third in their division and then lose in the first round of the playoffs.

  19. How on Earth did Samsonov go 23-7-8 last season? He was so bad. He made Andrew Raycroft look like Andrew Moog.

  20. They should have signed more Panthers on the off season. That was a team of winners. I like that they got 2 Panthers at least.

  21. i don’t think anyone can stress how many points samsonov lost us this season… and a series win.. but, leafs will be much better this year… samsonov is the definition of a ball and chain

  22. This is a top 10 roster in the league. The problem is that you really want to be top 5 to be a contender.
