  1. Glad he signed, after that contract he can let his career end with the Clogne sharks where he came from😊

  2. From years 2025-2027 it’ll be tricky, the oilers will regress a bit, but as long as management are able to make it work with Bouch and McDavid, the contracts are gonna be value contracts by like 2028.

For those multi sport fans, remember the reaction to Mahomes’ $50m x10 contract, but now see now cheap that deal really is and the Chiefs are going for a Three-Peat.

  3. Incredible signing and a testament to the organization that a player of his stature recognizes what he has accomplished thus far but still wants to accomplish with this group.

  4. Does the league allow players to sign a contract where their pay is a % of the cap? If so, why don't players do this to help combat potential run away inflation?

  5. People look at this deal the wrong way. Leon has produced as well as some of the greatest players of all time when it matters, most players produce barely 100 point per 82 G because the game gets tougher, we basically have the top 2 players in the league playoff wise plus now that Leon has actual line mates and is not stuck with Kane who can’t pass and Holloway whose ok but barely scored outside of that Canucks series I think it’s gonna bode well for us. 14 million for a 164 point playoff pace you can sign me up any day of the week.

  7. Alright I am wrong but at the same time I knew but not surprised Leon Draisaitl signed at 14 million for 8 years, great deal I thought 12 to 13 but that's OK.. he's an Oiler for life and now McDavid probably will get 16.5 and Bouchard 9 or 10 million dollars that's still under the projected amount on one of the source I look at and it's seems like It might be right to sign all three that's under 49 million but if it goes depends on Bouchard that's still under 40 million to there 100 million good job Oilers can't wait for this season to come and have 7 players to be over 30+ goal scorers… well to the people saying he wont resign he wont resign, yeah be salty and now Connor is going to resign

  8. Geez these greedy mooks never get it. 4 guys can't tie up 50% or more of your cap if you want to win. Braden Point is the type of guy I want, Drai..not so much.

  9. Leon got the bag 💰 I’m just glad he got extended before the season started, it’s a big question that we don’t have to worry about now

  10. I am glad we signed him (finally). But 14m a year does seem a little higher than most of us were expecting… I'm hoping this doesn't hurt our ability to keep or sign other talent.. was expecting it to be about 13.4/13.8.. oh well.. glad to have Leon moving forward!

  11. While I wish Leon would have differed 500K per year and gotten 4 million in year 9. He still would have been the highest paid player (at 13.5 million vs Matthews 13.25) but honestly it's okay. In so far as Bouch goes that's one I'd love to see deferrals in to keep it around the 7 to 8 mark but honestly 10 allowing for the "current cap" is fair. Please Note: I'm not saying he's a better player than Makar or Hughes but I'm saying for the CURRENT Cap he's currently worth 10 mil and proved it. Worst thing would be a bridge deal (as we saw with Nurse). Bouch is an RFA but you walk him to UFA status with a bridge you're asking for a player to max it out when you're struggling. Do it now. Get it done.

Reminder: Next year we have BOTH Connor McDavid AND Stuart Skinner and Skinner asking for 9 mil may be a very real possibility.

  12. I hear Nurse wants to re-negotiate his salary, he feels he's worth more than Leon. 😝 Connor and Ethan's contract coming up, will we become the Maple Leafs? Time will tell.
