This coming season, the Ottawa Senators will finish last in the Atlantic Division with a record of 11-72-9 and then fire both team president of hockey operations and GM Steve Staios and head coach Travis Green at season’s end. On April 14, 2025, Michael Andlauer and Anna and Olivia Melnyk will sell the Senators to a Hartford-based group headed by hedge fund managers Ray Dalio and Todd Boehly for $1.75 billion, including a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Senators to Hartford. On April 17, 2025, the NHL Board of Governors will approve both the sale and relocation of the Senators to Hartford in a 30-2 vote, so after calling Ottawa home for 33 years, the Senators will relocate to Hartford to become the Hartford Whalers and play at the XL Center in the 2025-26 NHL season.
