The problem with Seider is Lalonde. I don't necessarily mean that in a negative way, but what do Hughes, Makar, Faber, Fox and so on all have in common? Are hyped for their points.
what do they ALL play? PP1, of course Seider is no Makar offensively, but if you only play PP2, only have defensive starts, where are the 60+ points supposed to come from?
Everyone thinks Raymond carried the team while Larkin was injured, the question you can also ask yourself, what would Detroit look like without Seider?
We don't know since he hasn't missed a game…the kid has carried the entire defense on his shoulders for 3 years. 200+ hits and blocks last year.
He definitely makes mistakes & is certainly not the best defenseman in the NHL.
But all the negative comments you read everywhere about his contract are crazy. Of course there are those who think 9+ is deserved. Doesn't make sense either.
The guy should just sign for 7/8×8.5-8.7 and be Done.

Ok if the issue is "money" like always, i say do this …. Sign Mo to an 8 year/ $8.5 million dollar contract BUT…
Instead of it being $8.5 each year, have the forst year be $6 million. Then the next 7 years of the contract, which you would have more cap space with contract changes and cap increase, you can add the difference to the next 7 years. That difference would be a total of $2.5 million dollars paid over a course of the remaining 7 years of his contract ($357,142.85+$8,500,000= $8,857,142.87) then that way he still is getting his $8.5yr./$68million over 8 years but allows you to make it more flexible and gives you a bit over $2 million i think left in cap space this year to play with if need be. I feel like that would have been the easiest approach but I'm not a GM LOL. Great show as always stay frosty 🥶
I don't think Seider is going to sign for 8 years at less than $8.7 million per year. It would be great but I think if that amount of money is the max Yzerman will pay him The Wings will have to try to get as many years as possible and get this contract done now.
It's in Seider's best interest to sign a deal that will get him to free agency as soon as possible. He is going to leave money on the table if he doesn't! Players are realizing that careers are getting shorter in the nhl, so get your money early.
Everyone is assuming it's a money issue. Seider just might want to get to free agency as early in his career as he can.
Seider needs to sign today. He needs to be at the start of training camp. Mo is smart and wants to send the right message to team mates and fans.

Seider needs an 8 year deal. Chopping years off is crazy. This needs to be an 8 year deal…who cares if he makes a half a million more than Larkin?….not me.
I just want it at 8 therefore the last 3/4 years come in at a discount and you don't miss out on a few prime years.

Yzerman painted himself into a corner with bad signings with Husso, Copp, Holl, Chiarot. None of those signings is Seider’s fault. What is Seider’s fault is hiring Claude Lemieux as his agent with the horrible history between Lemieux and Detroit. That’s just stupid. It’s kind of a clown show all the way around. I would listen to trade offers for Seider.
I wont live long enough to see it, but Seider's jersey will be up in the rafters….. Raymond's will not. Raymond will be somewhere else before his contract is up.
