Another horrible hire. At least kings are consistent.
Uhhhh… No
Word of the day – underwhelming
thanks Eddie appreciate the time you spend doing all this have been listening but just subbed. I know its gotta be hard work especially working at night but love for hockey makes it right. I think the organization has chosen to go with the flow until Kopi and Doughty are pretty much done. Its like a Joe and Pat situation in San Jose. The only difference is, we won 2 cups plus I think we do have an organization that does feel like they need to be loyal to former players ie Blake, Luc, Hiller, Emerson etc etc. This has been pretty much confirmed in press confs as well. Its important to acknowledge that the team and the arena has lots of business contacts and due to location lots of fans of other teams that come to games to root on their teams like Flyers fans. Those of us that have gone to games for many years know this, Ive had so many conversations with season ticket holders from Detroit that are Red Wings fans. Ownership does not really need to do anything to make money these tickets are sold. We know as fans we are not close to anything other than making playoffs each year. We made playoffs in game 79 lol, people have already easily forgotten we could have missed playoffs this year and lost in 5… Regressing each year.
Luc and Blake to Anze: Hey Kopi, should we hire Hiller as our full-time coach?
Kopitar: Obviously.
Luc and Blake: Okay, done.
Pretty much the coaching search in a nutshell.
Let me summarize the press conference for anyone that didn’t see it…. “Bla bla bla bla” “We’re gonna look at everything” “Bla bla bla” “After 3 years we still don’t have a clue how to get past Edmonton”…Bla bla bla…. And my favorite …… “We’re right there”
GIVE ME A BREAK !!!!!!
Until the Kings play their best available talent, they will never come close to their ceiling of achievement. No more 1-3-1. No more 11/7. No more ignoring your best young talent. No more Englund, Lizotte and Lewis. If any of these still happens next season, Hiller is just a puppet and/or is the wrong choice.
Hey Eddie, this is a comment for your Feedback Friday show.
Hiller indicated the Kings are very close. So, with the team bringing up quite a few Reign players most likely because they are towing the salary cap line as tight as they are, I figure they are as likely to miss the playoffs this upcoming season as they are to again make them. If they do miss the playoffs this next season, will that show that Hiller doesn't really know this team as well as some make it out to be given his time already with the club to this point?
Even if injuries crop up, is that a good enough excuse for possibly missing the playoffs if that comes to pass after the 21/22 club was missing most of their defensive corps yet still made the playoffs that season?

My biggest take away from the Blake comments was that he interviewed the players and gets the sense from them that they all consider Hiller a part of their group.
We'll just have to see how that translates moving forward but that is something that I think could be a positive.
Gonna have to follow closely to summer interviews to get a sense of areas of the system that might undergo some changes and areas that they might just need to slightly tweek…
This reminds me of 2017 when John Stevens was named head coach. He said basically the same thing about adding offense, but not at the expense of defense. He didn’t seem to have any groundbreaking ideas on how to do that and I can’t imagine Jim Hiller will either. Rob Blake’s regime has run its course. It’s entirely possible this team implodes next season and doesn’t even make the playoffs. I hope I’m wrong, but there just aren’t many positive signs yet in this offseason. Same leadership, same ideas, same players for the most part, same PL Dubois- how exactly do they plan on “making him better?” Hiller most definitely has his hands full!
I agree the team isn’t close. However Hiller (nor would any coach) state that the roster is poor and the GM didn’t give him the tools to be a success. It’s always going to be a positive slanted press conference.
CLAY HELTON USC football ERA ALL OVER AGAIN (same sh1t)…… SEE y'all in 2025 -2026
As any kings fan , I woulda liked to see robitallie and Blake and holler gone . And some cup or bust business men with a new system and culture. This if we loose 2-1 or 1-0 mentality that we played well because defense was good is GONE ! It’s Los Angeles / Hollywood , we are going to get everyone’s A game . We need to be fit resistant and OFFENSIVE and disrespectful on the ice with swagger .
Unless Byfield/Clarke emerges as elite superstars, this team isn't going to be a true perennial contender. You look at each Stanley cup champion and they all have at least 1 or 2 superstars. I love Kopitar and Doughty but they are no longer elite.
NEED A GOALIE!!
Hiller will be fine I think we'll see changes to increase offense you really can't change a system mid season and expect success, as far as 7th round success with Yanetti 6 players drafted by LA in the 7th rnd played over 100 games found Loktionov, Nolan, and Dowd on consecutive picks, Kubalik, Middleton, and Roy in consecutive drafts and have signed there last 3 7th rnd picks which doesn't guarantee success but an almost 50% success rate in the 7th rnd is a good indicator of the potential of Lee, Jamsen, and Lawrence
Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts had lots of good things to say about Jim Hiller. Most of you guys want to blow things up, a good GM or coach has patience, which none of you guys seem to have.
I think part of things is Hiller may coax results from PLD..low pressure…low key..we will see
Upgrade at 🥅
Complete wait and see. Willing to give Hiller a chance and the organization a shot to reset under his stewardship. Hopefully we’ll invest in the young guys and play a more aggressive brand of hockey. Time will tell.
Anyone claiming this will be a failure (or success for that matter) is an imbecile of the highest order.
