This is the definition of goaltender interference. If this is allowed, any player can use their stick like a pitchfork and drive the goalie into the net. Historically this has not been a valid goal. Refs, paid 400k USD/yr, had multiple chances to make the right call and failed. Game subsequently got violent with fights, undermining player safety. No accountability for NHL refs no matter how bad they are.
Hopefully this isn't foreshadowing.
