Too many management and coaching roles in the Oilers are going to people with direct links to McDavid. I am getting LeBron James energy with McDavid and the nepotism that shrouds him lately.
Where was Pickard after 3-0? Comon Knob.. Ever wonder if the Oilers would have won a cup last season with Pickard in the finals?? I sure have. Comon knob, start using Pickard by 3-0, and give him starts and the opportunity to win #1 already! Comon Knob…
Oilers management better re vamp , this team isnt going far this year and really sucks at expense they are dishing out, they have no depth and teams they did beat were not hot on their stats, Oilers have no heart and they play like, look at me, its wearing thin.
Oilers have been experimenting with forwsrd lines since Todd. McLellan. It's ridiculous. Barring injury, why is it so difficult to set a line and stick to it?
Maybe they should have shown up in the preseason. As an objective non-Oilers fan I saw problems going directly from the preseason as they were unfocused and uninterested. As a result stuff that should have been figured out in the preseason is still being ironed out now. They did this last year and you'd think they would have learned. Apparently not.
Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. My comments and observations at the end.
Statistics for Edmonton Oilers at Columbus Blue Jackets October 28th, 2024
Edmonton Oilers:
Ekholm 1 Goal (PP)
Nurse 1 Primary Assist (PP)
Perry 1 Secondary Assist (PP)
Skinner 19 Saves on 25 Shots = .760 Save %age (Projectile Vomit Time)
Again, waiting for surgery, couldn't watch the game.
Okay from what I heard (yes, I listen to the games and calls) this was a no-mercy beating by the Blue Jackets (who Edmonton doesn't do well against historically) on Edmonton. It wasn't pretty (unless your a CBJ fan). McDavid injured 37 seconds into the game. He's returning to Edmonton to be assessed so it isn't just a bruise folks. He'll be out for more than the one game as a guess ONLY. Important Note: The Sky isn't falling. It's happened before. The team has pulled themselves up by the bootstraps and won without Connor. It can happen again.
Stuart Skinner managed a .760 Save percentage letting in 6 goals (what is it with Stu and the # 6) on 25 shots.
One of the few statistical upsides is that besides Nuge (who was close) we won the other faceoff battles (everyone ELSE was 50% or higher and Nuge won 3, lost 4 so he wasn't that far from it). Power Play was one for SIX and the PK stopped 3 out of 4. I think our PP is now sitting at 13% and our PK is the leagues worst at 60%. Remember that distant vision during the playoffs of the PK stopping everything. Wake up to a new day and smell the rendering plant that's taken up residence next door and the Sulfur plant on the other side and the two cattle farms on the other 2 sides where the moo's just like to let loose near your place so you can't win (and shouldn't strike a match or lighter or, well, you get the idea).
This was an ugly game. The ONLY D man who wasn't a – on the night was Troy Stecher (who only played 13:16, least of all D men). The Oilers still aren't blocking shots so that just makes it worse when your goalie can't stop anything it seems. Oil had 8 hits vs 19 for the Blue Jackets. Someone who can throw em kind of needs to get in if you're not going to block.
Take care all, I'm going to have a cup of tea. I won't say if there's anything BUT tea in that tea but I'm having it and yes, I know, it's very early AM on Tuesday when I'm doing this.
Oilers management made the Oilers even older and softer than they were last year. Should have traded Dry when they had the chance. This team has already seen its high-water mark and if u expect more u r delusional. Wait until Oil plays some top teams instead of the middling teams we have started out against; the squirrel suit will be threadbare by the end of this season!!!
That "magical recipe" to beat the lifeless Red Wings in OT… how delusional. A bottom-feeders matchup saved by an over-performing C-Tier Pickard would be more accurate.
Oilers were very strong defensively in playoffs last year, they seem to have forgotten how (or do not care). Forwards did not back check, the D were standing around puck watching. Yes Skinner could make a few saves but with the defence in front of him it is hard to blame him.
Still way better than last season. You are nuts. They were 5-9-1 last season after losing to the Sharks who I don’t think had a win. It’s week 4. Keep being negative, Bud. It’s a good look and you sound so smart.
Get Holland back, he built the winning team and let him fix it. Get rid of skinner and get a real goalie. We would be in much better shape with a 9mil goalie than a 9mil player
The off season signing were terrible. A bunch of old men signed to win the cup off the backs of McDavid and Leon. Arvidsson, Skinner, Perry, Henrique and Stan Bowman are useless. Should have signed Holloway and Broberg and Kept Mcleod. Especially giving up Broberg that was extremely dumb since Ekholm only has one year left. Whats the matter with the ownership already. Look at Florida last year. They did not break up the team when they lost in the finals, came back and won it the next year. Brining in Stan Bowman was such a disgrace and this Jeff Jackson guy, what an idiot.

Dude go look for a girlfriend give up on trying to run the Oilers 😂

Maybe Oilers players don't get paid enough😂😂😂😂😂😂

The coach is given a slower and older team this year. Oilers got very outworked tonight.

You're not impressed. I'm not surprised. I've said since last season… The SCF game 7 Oilers were the exception' THESE Oilers are the rule.
No heart, no drive, no interest and exactly zero f**ks given no matter what the result. Without 97 & 29, this would be a lottery team!
I wouldn’t say it’s pathetic but our guys need to stop ringing the puck off the post, and I gotta say Stuart skinner is a concern

Trade Leon, buy a goalie and a defence man, win the cup. Your welcome
Superintendent Chalmers: 'SKINNER!!!!!' waves fist in ager
I mean Stuart Skinner, not Jeff.

La Bumba Baby ! Caving In Right Now !
The sOilers are an elite ringette team at best.

Mcdavid will be gone next yr.
Nurse is beyond bad. He's a liability.
You’re right it was pathetic
Nugget Hopkins

No shows
McDavid carries these bums
