I like how our guys kept swarming the offensive zone stead of retreating like they usually do. I find this is a better tactic for Tochet as no the opposing team needs to find guys to get open and it’s hard if you have an opposing player chasing you with another opposing player blocking the passing lanes. Lekkerimäki played well too, HBD to Pettey, and congrats to Bränstrom on his first NHL goal. Lankinnen also played solid, great way to bounce back after last game.

Looks like the Flames are heading back to reality. Kadri 2nd highest paid Flames, with a minus 11 which is almost double the next highest minus player. Huberdeau who is the highest paid player actually starting earning some of his money at the start but He s now minus 2 so He is back to His old tricks. Seems like the coach from last year is the same coach this year which is very little accountability for the highest paid players. They probably will win enough games as the season progress for Him to keep His job and then hitting the Golf course mid April. Meanwhile management will keep shaking their heads….what went wrong. When people are not made accountable for what they do, most will take the easiest way out. Vancouver who was one of the worst teams a few years ago and hires a no nonsense coach and now they are a team to be reckoned with. Calgary use to have a coach like that but He probably hurt the feelings of some of the millionaire players so they had to fire Him.

Overall great team effort. Lankanin was hot when he needed to be and the Canucks got most of the good chances. Got to give credit to the Flames Dan Vladar though, he was red hot and kept his team in it in a game where the Canucks heavily outplayed and out chanced the Flames. Without the goaltending of "Vlad The Impaler" (Flames fans, make that nickname stick) this could easily have been 5 or 6-1. If he can play like that for you consistently, you' Flames have got a Keeper. (yes, I meant that soccer goalie pun)
Crazy how a rare game with 2 points (goal and an assist!) is supposed to be awesome when we are paying him over 13 million. For 13 million, shouldn't he be doing better than a third line shut down center with the odd game of multiple points? No? Okay cool, my bad. 🤷
