  1. I honestly don't care about the Leafs losing… but this felt like we lost to the Refs not the capitals. Annoying.

  2. last night reminded me of a lot of leafs playoff games goin back over 20 years…tight game and the big guys can't figure out how to contribute. i see everyone ref blaming…has that worked in 30 years? or ever? not for TO.

  3. Leafs are like me. They have ADHD. The worst thing that can ever happen to me is to slip up but still succeed. Like if I’m late leaving my house by like 10 minutes but still get to work on time is terrible for me. Now I’m gonna be late everyday until I eventually fail.

  4. Poor defense leads to both goals against .

Second goal, Mathews and Marner will do anything to avoid physical play

  5. MATTHEWS and MARNER …. chemistry ???? …. the dynamic duo ??? …… DYNAMIC STINKERS

didn't even complete ONE pass ….. PUT NYLANDER …. back ….. WITH Matthews

  6. My only argument for sitting or trading Robbie and Holmberg is they seem to lose every physical battle out there.

This teams knew style kind of demands they win more than they lose in puck battles and those two don’t pass the eye test.

  7. I know why the Caps are doing so well this season…BOTH of their goalies are LEFTIES…the other teams are used to facing right handed goalies….Left handed people have some kind of edge…I know, I am left handed. I was great at sports…I played goal for 9 years in a pick-up league with my friends….won most of my games…I am also a good artist, and when I was a kid, won top scorer in the kids league I played in…I could play a right handed guitar…left handed…I had 7 brothers and although I was the smallest, I could beat them all at sports. Not bragging at all, just saying…..those lefties, you gotta be aware of them. I am 72 now so my sports days are long gone. if the Caps goalies get injured…they may be in trouble. GO LEAFS!!!!!!!

  8. When Domi comes back i honestly would like to see him play with Matthew's and Knies. He was his best last year with Matthew's and Burt.

  9. I remember hearing from the commentator on TSN that the Leafs were giving up the point all night. Are the Leafs doing this on purpose? I just feel like the Leafs haven't been playing with the same urgency as when Matthews was out of line up. Why do they look worse with their reigning goal scorer back? I'd never want to trade him but the stats are suggesting this team is better without Matthews…… My hot take: I think Matthews has an injury that has pushed his awesomeness to normal playing level.

Most of the superstars have something that propels them above most other NHL players. Matthews doesn't seem to have the same control and take away prowess. I need to take a look at the advanced stats as I think this injury is from last year or even maybe the summer. He used to score at will when he broke into the league and he should be even better as he approaches the hockey prime of 29 years old. 29 has just seemed to be the prime of NHL players these days….I'm not married to the age 29 as the prime but most are their best at that age in the modern era

  10. They are very lucky this isn't three in a row. Zero offense. The Leaf's have no possibility of scoring from that bottom six. And to help things along, and I hate blaming the Refs cause it is too easy, but come on? This is getting to be a daily thing. It is almost as if the officials don't like Toronto. I mean when the guy prevents us from scoring to ice the game two days ago and then kicks the puck out in front of the net for a primary assist on the game winning goal????? Mix in some absolute brutal calls and brutal misses and one has to start questioning the integrity of these guys. Now we all know this league is well, they are BAD! Compared to the other three professional sports leagues it is BAD. But now the integrity of the league is being questioned. It is time for someone at the head office to start and monitor these guys. As they are WORSE. It isnt cute anymore. It is actually costing a franchise key games.

  11. The refs are bad in every game agains't every team, and people bitch about it every game. When does the time come when we get all-new officials, and a new system of "training" them. It will never happen because the league is an old-boys-club, but the last 2-3 seasons have seemed abysmal. Call the game without picking and choosing whistles or giving make-up calls for stuff they missed, letting these guys remain employed at the highest level of this sport just be relaxed and comfortable in their job that requires constant attention to detail.

  12. Why does Bérubé insist on having reaves in the lineup when he isn’t in the lineup the 4th line has more speed and gets more chances and is better defensively and is say that applies to Robertson as well

  13. Typical Toronto fan complaining about refs. I guess you didn't see Marner skating into Carlson then falling and JC getting the interference penalty. 😅

  14. Playing rep hockey in the late 90s, it was always drilled in our head as wingers: “cover the point!” So I don’t understand how professionals fail at this so so soooo often!

  15. Was at the game. The entire team took the night off, no real urgency, boring game. Nylander was horrendously bagging it. He had a few chances to cut loose or strip pucks and nadda.

I can't believe how well this team plays with Matthews gone. The minute he is back, they milk it.

Maybe it time to consider trading him as the team has repeatedly shown they dont really need him when he is injured.

The reffing was worse than a beer league game. OELs penalties where phantom calls. Not blaming the Leafs' loss on the reffing as no pp goals, but those calls are just pathetic.

  16. Patches and Alex Nylander in Holmberg and Robertson out! Myers needs to sit too, he looked horrible out there!

  17. If refs could keep up with players, they'd be players. This is a simple fact and it's long overdue to be addressed in everyone's favour except their own. They're obsolete.

  18. Lines should be
    Knies-matthews-marner
    Patches-Tavares-nylander
    Holmberg-Minton-A. Nylander
    Grebenkin-dewar-Lorentz

Reaves and Robertson offer no value right now
Grebenkin is faster actually provides hits and energy shifts and has with him that forth line has offensive upside whereas the play dies on reaves stick and he doesn’t put really do anything just soft hits he has LESS FIGHTS THAN HOLMBERG and there have been games where a fight could’ve helped bring some energy

  19. Todays episode brought to you by Bluesky. Proud supporters of biological men beating women in sports and open borders.

  20. After the Capitals got beat by San José and getting snubbed from the 4 Nations tournament they were playing with a chip on their shoulders.

  21. dallas lost to vegas last night and i really wish we moved the moon to keep tanev now XD I know i know atleast hes on another team i like but shit we coulda used that pass against the knights

  22. Caps beat Leafs.

    Sharks beat Caps

Calling it now: Sharks will beat the Leafs both times this year. Cody Ceci and Tim Liljergen will both score in those games

  23. Caps got lucky that game..leafs hit 2 posts and the one that went off the ref eas lucky..cant win them all..the effort was there for sure. They will beat the pens tonight!

  24. "They worked extremely hard. They outworked us tonight. They deserved to win." – Chris Tanev.

You missed an even better quote from Tanev about last night's game. That's something that the youth hockey players and their parents can both agree is a great response to a loss.

  25. Your soo wrong about Robertson! Sit Benoit, Holmberg, and Lorentz. The amount of giveaways they have every game is insane. Robertson needs to be on the top 2 lines with players that can give him the puck.

  26. AND IN OTHER NEWS Easton Cowan broke the OHL regular season consecutive point streak, now at 56 games. I believe the record of 55 games was previously held by Doug Gilmour. Later in the game, Cowan collided with a General's player and did not return for the remainder of the game. I don't have an injury update.

  27. Hot take: Matthew's has trouble generating his own offense. He needs a set up man to be effective and it's infuriating that a 14 million dollar player needs another player to be his best.
