Definition of insanity – New York Rangers. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Same stupid story from coach “We didn’t play well in the first period. We weren’t ready tonight.” Well, get ready for crying out loud! How can you keep on saying this? Same story from Trouba “Not one of our better games, gotta learn from our mistakes, turn the page and get ready for the next one.” Well, learn from your mistakes then! Make whatever changes necessary so that you don’t keep doing the same thing. Such ridiculous inconsistency. Such little accountability. Are Lavy’s hands tied from upstairs? I mean, there are clearly some players who are playing their hearts out and others who are just cruising around. Sit the cruisers and play the ones that are skating hard. Quick is one who is playing with all heart and also mad skills. Why are we not playing him? Cullye is probably the best looking Ranger on the team. 3rd and 4th line in general have showed so much more grit than 1st and 2nd line. Only solid consistent defense has been the lowest paid ones – Schneider and Jones. Laffy has definitely been emerging into a great player and deserving of the contract, but he has shown some laziness recently as well. But the thing that concerns me most about Laffy is that he always tries that ridiculous east west pass through 3 defenders and it never works. Shoot the puck! Stop with the finesse and fancy play. This team has the talent for sure. The raw materials are there. They just need to commit to a different, more basic, style of play. Step up on defense. Play the body instead of trying to poke check and end up getting beat like a dog. Break the puck out, dump it in the ofensive zone and go hard after it. Force the turnovers, crash the net, shoot from the point, and score with the amazing talent that this team has. Stop doing the same thing over and over. It is not working!!! At this rate, they might not even make the playoffs or if they do it will be an early round exit. I’m not giving up on my team. Let’s Go Rangers!!
Shesterkin is the only reason why the Rangers were even in this game. What an onslaught, 50 shots!! Flames bringing that 2004 energy with the fire pony jerseys, lol. Also, crazy how skilled and accurate NHL shooters have become that even under pressure, goalies can't cheat anymore high or short side without getting burned. It's remarkable how many times I've seen that this year alone, guys can now reliably roof it over the goalies shoulder or just up high in general. Its been a trend over the last few years but now its gotten blatantly obvious. It'll be interesting to see how teams and goalies adapt to this new reality. Lastly, it must be frustrating for Oilers fans seeing how most of the league is trotting out elite to reliably solid goalies while the Oilers continue to have AHL grade talent every night between the pipes – year after year.
