  1. Yzerman lost the roster. Lalonde lost the room. Wings need to fire a lot of the old red wings players that were hired out of nepotism of the old cup teams. Cleary, Draper, Yzermans brother, Lidstrom/Kronwall up next. Put up or shut up.

  2. yzerman blew out a lot of cap space on middling veterans. will admit husso looked like a good signing at the time. but copp, chiarot, holl were all overpays. you can add in petry as another dogshit contract. when those contracts come off the books, the stevie is going to have to be a lot smarter with his labor cost allocations.

about folks who think yzerman did everything in tampa, yzerman already had stamkos and hedman b4 he became gm of tampa. his teams had all talent, no grit and the next gm (JBB) fixed that and boom 2 cups. yzerman at best is a good gm but he is no wizard.

SY's been a gm almost 15 years and won nothing. also joe sakic was gm for 8 years and his team was dead last 5 years before winning. got to the p-off's much faster and he drafted the rest of that team outside mack who didn't come into his own for awhile as dominant.

sorry but sakic is superior over stevie.

as a tampa guy, i'm just getting sick and tired also of people playing up yzerman because of his name, and not putting the proper respect on JBB's name as well.

  3. I hope the team improves just enough to not get a quality pick in the draft.

  4. Yzerman has been walking a tight rope trying to develop the organization while not alienating Larkin and the few decent players in the room. The pro scouting group made some bad free agent signings out of some level of necessity to demonstrate a willingness to push for the playoffs to Larkin and others up for long term extensions. They finally have a full stable of good talent, these bad deals all fall off the books over the next two seasons, and the cap is going up. Expect major moves the next 18mos.
