Les Devils du New Jersey sont réels ! Après une victoire très impressionnante contre les Rangers de New York en difficulté et ayant limité l’opposition à 12 tirs au but, soit parfois moins de 20, les Devils du New Jersey roulent. Après les vacances, une série consécutive contre les rivaux de la division métropolitaine, les Hurricanes de la Caroline, a été un véritable test. Les Hurricanes donnent toujours du fil à retordre aux Devils et ils connaissent également une bonne saison. Les Diables ont réussi à remporter le premier de ces deux matchs par un score de 4-2. Luke Hughes avec un but et une passe décisive élève vraiment son jeu. Avec 8 points lors de ses 6 derniers matchs et trouvant son jeu aux côtés de Brett Pesce, ils ressemblent à un solide duo défensif. Jakob Markstrom a remporté son 19e match de la saison et cet échange conclu par Tom Fitzgerald avec les Flames de Calgary a finalement donné au NJ un véritable gardien de but numéro un. Markstrom a très bien joué et sur une séquence de victoires. Yeah the NJD are looking better and better. They have 4 games in hand over the Caps and 2 or more on every other team in the division, 1 or more on every other team in the conference. So being on top of the conference is true but there is a little inflation there. One more chance tonight to see if the Canes have lost their edge. It's been difficult to play them for years but their current configuration is definately beatable. Not quite half way through the season but for sure it looks like a strong post-season and a high position in the brackets. Markstrum has really been one of the best goalies in the league lately. He's frequently been in the top 3 stars of the game. I do think they probably still have a problem sometimes when they are getting shut out… getting that first goal. But it's not from a lack of shooting. Just some defenses do just enough to throw off their offense.

This Devils team reminds me a lot of the 2000-01 Devils. Also, Jack Hughes & Jesper Bratt are neck and neck for the Devils points leader race.
