Sadly, Cousins was recently linked to the Red Wings. Seems like Steve Yzerman is already starting to think about making some big moves. So perhaps looking to make a trade with the Wings might be a good idea. So you pointing out the Cousin ordeal turned out to be right. He does indeed want out of Buffalo.
You seem pretty high on the Borgen addition. He didn’t seem to help much against Tampa managing a -1 on the two even strength goals and only one hit. When a team is struggling like this, adding a third pairing defenceman has no value, especially one who will be a free agent (and worth every penny of free). The series of clips shown had zero to do with the commentary which went on about ten and a half minutes longer than needed to say nothing.

The first (of two!) short handed goals scored on Rangers was by Tampa Bay defenseman Ryan McDonagh. He used to be Rangers Captain, but he was traded away. Who else was lost in the same trade? J.T. Miller…yeah, same guy everyone now claims is the Rangers salvation! Take a look at the handful of smoke received in return… and tell me about "trades".
What are you getting back for Borgen? OH, you answered that. Okay, a 3rd round pick is possible if you retain salary. Otherwise maybe a 5th. No prospect in my opinion.

Trading guys just to trade guys is not going to advance the cause. Dolan doesn't give a damn about the Rangers, he cares about the Knicks. Rangers won't get much for Borgen because they are dealing from desperation. Good decisions rarely are made under desperation. Same applies to Miller who must be on Sominex the way he plays. Maybe the salvation is getting a top 5 draft pick. Actually the Rangers have some really talented players, but the team is tight & panicked. When that happens players are not relaxed & spontaneous & overthink everything. This season is not going to be saved. A complete reboot of management is needed.
Been watching this team since 1980. Worst bunch I've ever seen. At least the bad teams would brawl their way thru the season in the golden days.

Drury has destroyed the team. Possibly for years to come. In a league that changes coaches like diapers, this staff is still standing after a collapse of this magnitude is shocking.
Ill be watching legacy youtube games for the remainder of the season. This way, i don't go to bed in a depression.
The last thing I want is for Drury to make any more trades or decisions with this team. With the exception of Kreider and Panarin, whose contracts he inherited, everyone else on this team is his doings. Including the coaches. Changes need to be made, but allowing Drury to make them will not fix the problem because he is the problem.
Guys i dont even know what to say here. This teams falling from Presidents trophy recipient last year, to the NHL's biggest joke this year tells me this will take years to fix. From players,to management.
When the stands become empty then perhaps Dolan will get the message that Drury is the wrong guy to run the show. Drury has built a team mainly of one way SOFT finesse players.
When Laviolette is asked when the team will start winning he should say "not with this team".

First of all decide what type of team you want to be.Then sign/draft players that meet that criteria.
Better scouting reports might help as well.The Rangers first round picks have been abysmal .Anderson, Kravtsov, Miller and to some extent Kakko have all turned out to be busts or with low ceiling Lafreniere will hopefully be the exception to this.
If they're sellers they need to go all in with guys like igor and panarin. A slight roster shake up with help on D and a coaching change could do a lot for this team.

I cant imagine what Torterella would do with this team if he was coach. So many guys would be benched and practices would be non stop. He would go after the worst players.
Kreider and Fox both on the ice for 4 goals against.Zib on the ice for 3 goals against. Schneider and Vaakaneinen nothing against. Laf and Chytil only on for 1 goal against. The issues are obvious. 2 shorthanded goals? Pathetic playing. Wait until the deadline and get more for the guys who need to go. Next season start fresh, this year is trash.
