For many years I have always dreaded long layoffs or Christmas……the Oilers historically have come out flatter than hammered shit after the Christmas holidays….and this year lived up to the tradition!
When the Oilers are playing really good defense, as they were up until close to the Christmas break, the goalies look good. When they aren't stellar defensively, it exposes the goalies. Sorry, but this is very simple: the goalies are not good enough to steal games. Many other teams have that level of goaltending, but we do not, and this has been shown over and over again. We need an upgrade in net if we realistically want to steal games like today, or just don't expect to win when we get outchanced (getting outchanced by the Ducks is sad, as a sidebar). The team also needs to play better than they have the past couple of games, because that effort level was awful.

I used to get excited to watch every Oilers game. Now I just don't care, like the Oilers don't care and I hardly watch any games. I used to always find out when the next Oilers game is, but not anymore. Now for excitement, I watch Montreal, not the best, but exciting team and exciting games. Ever since Holland left, the Oilers have lost it. It's gone. Glad to be aboard Dolynny TV with the other 17,000 subscribers and I always give a like for Dolynny cause he saves me from having to watch the Oilers games!!! Bowman and Jackson destroyed the Oilers. They won't get a real goalie, why? They won't trade Ard and Skinner, but they lose Holloway and Foegle? And here goes the coach mixing up the lines again and playing McD and Drai when he gets desperate. Not making guys accountable for terrible play, nobody gets benched. Keep Ryan, but lose Holloway? Foegle? WTF? I give up.
9 goals allowed vs 6 scored. Consecutive losses in the LA metro area. Just 1 standings point out of a possible 4. These are just some stats to describe poor weekend play by the Oilers.

Home from Hospital but feeling a quarter past dead so didn't listen much. Second Ducks Goal was a misplay by Pickard behind the net where I don't think he had time to get set for the goal by Helleson. Leon's one timers on the PP were lethal. PK at 100%. PP at 66.7%. The boys still lost by two late goals in the 3rd by the Ducks. NOT a good game against a team they should have beaten.
You can't win games with sub-par goalies and defense, and that's what the Oilers bring to each game. They do this, year after year after year. I watched the Oilers win 5 cups in 7 years and this current version…no where close to attaining that level of competence or success. You need a playoff calibre goalie and a revision on that blueline because after Bouchard and Eikholm…you've got nothing else on the backline…maybe Kulak, but that's it. Just not good enough!
