If another team actually wants Zibanejad and he waives his no move clause to go there, we would have to retain salary obviously.

To your question I would try this theory.
Laviolette probably hoped for Zibanejad to score the big goal in order to give him a badly needed boost since they were playing at 6 against 4.
That's the only justification I can come up with at this point.
I don't think I have seen a player lose his skills like Mika. It is somewhat scary to see. He was a 200 foot player. I hope he is OK.

This is almost the same team as last year. Drury didn’t address the issues, put some youth in from the minors. Even though management has treated players badly ( players have to deal with it)

Mika isn't untradable, it's not going to be this year though at best it will be the off-season, also expect a bad contract to come back. It will be like a Lucic Neal type of trade, hopefully it involves a little bit of relief on our end

He Laviolette may not be the problem however coaching is supposed to get results, teach a system, get accountability, seek improvement and get results. The Ranger coaching has failed to make them improve.

I remember players were upset at the ways the Rangers management went about working around Trouba's contract to get him to a trade. Now I think it's dumb that players can put in their contract they can't be traded. Now, Mika can just suck ass and all we can do is continue to pay him and get nothing out of it. Maybe Borgen is playing over Seth Jones and other d options because if Borgen sits, the Kakko trade looks even worse for Drury than it already does.
