The applicable rule is 8.1, which states: "When a player is injured so that he cannot continue to play or go to his bench, the play shall not be stopped until the injured player’s team has secured control of the puck. If the player’s team is in control of the puck at the time of injury, play shall be stopped immediately unless his team is in a scoring position."
Strange, in hockey, it's always i don't know about the injury. There is no information, and in the NFL or NBA, they will show you a graph the MRI and medical staff explaining the 3xact injury within hours.

In between the lines all I’m hearing is he was told by the league to stfu, that the refs are off limits to any scrutinization and nothing will come of this situation so best to move on. The league may have listened to his stance but aren’t going to address anything/anyone. Back to business as usual.
