#edbelfour #nhlblackhawks #blackhawks #chicagoblackhawks #dallasstars #torontomapleleafs #hockey #nhl #videoessay #icehockey

  1. The NHL will never see another goalie like Eddie. A goalie obsessed with the gear and the game and not the fame but he became famous even though he wasn’t a media darling. He deserved the Conn Smyth in 99.

  2. Theo fleury (his inspiration to ovechkin, with tinted visor and yellow laces) is something interesting to add with ovechkin on the verge of breaking the scoring record speaks to fleury’s influence of style of play and personal style. He also played for the hawks at the end of his career. 2nd would be forsberg, both are two players I’d love to see.

  3. If you think Eddie belfour was the craziest goalie in hockey you don't know anything about hockey..
First of all nobody holds a candle to Brian tp Ron Hextall, who is the most unhinged player I've ever seen in watching the game for over 40 years.
Next, former Rangers goalie and owner of one of the coolest goalie masks of all time, Gilles Gratton what is definitely one of the most eccentric athletes of all time

  4. Ed "The Eagle" Belfour

    NOTES:

Belfour missed-out a lot of career oppertunities to compete with Team Canada for a IIHF World Championship gold medal. Never competed in any tournament despite having had oppertunities in; 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, 2002, 2006 & 2007. And Team Canada managed to win the gold medal in 1994, 1997, 2004 & 2007 years = 4 missed chanses.

Belfour had serious alcohol abuse problems he wrestled with a long time of his career. That is a big part of his lesser seasons and in his later seasons it got worse.

  5. If every other Hockey Channel gets taken down by greed of NHL. I will support you guys only. We are the source. Screw their greed.

  6. I’d love a Corey Perry video.
He has been in like 5 cup finals. 2 stadium series, Stanley cup winner, Olympian, he was called Gumby in Anaheim because he would take some many brutal hits and get right back up.

  7. He had an eagle on his mask bc his nickname was eagle from a coach, as in, eagle eyed. He didn't earn the moniker from wearing the mask… he wore the mask bc he was already called that

  8. 10:20 Are we sure he's a legendary goalie? Lol letting in a one hander like that in the finals.. Just kidding love Eddie The Eagle. The 90's goalies really had some of the most iconic masks, it made each guy instantly recognizable and added to their aura

  9. His mom and my grandmother shared a hospital room for a while when I was a kid during his Blackhawk days. Spent some time talking with him and got a few autographed cards. He was super nice! Great memories.

  10. Balfour played goal the way I think it should be and I emulated his style and positioning in street and ball hockey but more standup oriented than him and more floppy. Him and Hasek and Potvin were my goalie idols

  11. Belfour was my hero goalie as a kid, and as goalie and Manitoban myself. But I fell away from watching hockey after his Stanley Cup win. A bit crazy, but man, what a great goalie. Best helmet in the league to this day. His use of Christian brand sticks lead me to using them over my beloved Koho and no regrets. Best stick I ever used. Thanks for this video! Love to see people remembering this insanely awesome goalie!

  12. 2 seconds in, Eddie Belfour was my personal hero growing up, I loved that crazy bastard!

  13. my mom used to run a vitamin/supplement shop in dallas in the 90's and Eagle was a regular customer, she says he was always friendly and had time to talk, love that guy. ive got a belfour jersey in my closet

  14. My favorite memory of Belfour was watching Owen Nolan about put him through the wall behind his goal! I thought of it as punishment for Belfour throwing such a fit about being traded to SJ.

  15. Very well done man please make more ill definetly watch them. Also thank you for mentioning Jason Arnott with New Jersey i know of him from being with Edmonton cause thats where im from so seeing him win finally was nice. This brought back alot of great memories thank you good sir

  16. Ed was a key to my interesst at hockey as a young boy. Always liked those crazy and good goalies. Hextall too.
It was amazing when he came to Leksand. I lived there at that time. Also articles about Selänne to join Leksand too! But that did´nt happen.. Even if i aint a fan of LIF, thats nice for the team and leauge.. I Support Hv71.. Las Vegas William Karlssons former team.
